La Paz del Caribe Adults Only

This was our favorite stay on our honeymoon. The staff was so kind and prompt when asked to do something. The breakfast was delicious! The bungalow was pristine, everything was so inviting. I loved how nature was literally outside your window, you could sit on the porch and watch agoutis, ducks, cats, listen to monkeys. I loved how there was not air conditioning, the ceiling fan was powerful and all that was necessary. There were screens and windows on every wall so it felt like you were still outside while you were safe inside. I enjoyed the outdoor shower as well.

I didn’t like that I could hear my LOUD neighbors having sex two bungalows down over the noise of the insects and monkeys. I only heard the girl, but also heard her get slapped. Ewww!!

This adults-only boutique jungle retreat turned out to be the best accommodation on our trip around Costa Rica. We always try to patronize the adults-only accommodations when traveling – it’s so peaceful and relaxing! The location is great, just outside of the seaside town of Playa Cocles, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and the beach within easy walking distance. We received a warm welcome and thorough run down by the friendly hosts on all the attractions and things to do in the area. The property has 5 beautiful wooden cabanas set in a nicely manicured jungle environment, along with 2 stunning pool areas, bar, and dining area. Each private cabana is fully screened with tons of air flow providing a cool retreat, and even with no AC, the rooms remained cool enough to be comfortable, even at night. The ceiling fans helped out a lot as well. The outdoor shower was wonderful, and the entire cabana was large and airy, constructed with quality, comfort, and luxury in mind. The covered veranda out front was an excellent place to relax, enjoy a drink and watch all the wildlife, of which there was plenty. We had the good fortune to see a mama and baby sloth descend a tree right onto our veranda! There were a number of sloths on the property, as well as a couple of playful agoutis, red-eyed tree frog, and a small snake. The breakfasts were excellent, prepared with a lot of care and effort. Overall, we had a super stay and would highly recommend it to other travelers. We were so sad to leave!

Our only complaint was that the water pressure was really bad in the shower – not much more than a trickle coming out of the shower head. I had to look up at times to see if water was actually still coming out!! It was frustrating to shower and have to spend so long in there to get enough water to wash the soap and shampoo away.

Laurie and Wayne are amazing host. The place is even better than on the pictures. Their breakfast is absolutely delicious! The bungalows are clean and well thought of. We were impressed by the maintenance, once a day cleaning. Way beyond our expectations. The location is simply amazing, you really feel like you are sleeping in the jungle. It is quite the experience! Thank you for everything. Pura vida!! 🇨🇷 🇨🇦

Everything is spotlessly clean and fresh flowers are left in the room everyday. Kudos to the housekeeping team! We really enjoyed staying here where we are away from the crowds and surrounded by lush gardens. Wade and Laurie are wonderful hosts who make the most amazing breakfasts!!! I’m still thinking of that muffin and waffle …
