The Filly Inn

First of all, the location is fantastic if you're planning to explore the New Forest trails. There's plenty of free parking, which is a real bonus. The hotel has a restaurant on the ground floor with both indoor and outdoor seating, and it's dog-friendly too. We had dinner there on the evening we arrived, and it was absolutely fantastic. The chef clearly knows what they’re doing! 🤩 We both chose fish dishes and loved every bite. One thing I particularly appreciated was the selection of mini desserts available. Such a brilliant idea! I’m always tempted by something sweet after a meal, but a full-sized dessert is often too much. The smaller portions were perfect. Breakfast was included in our stay and, once again, everything was delicious. Overall, a wonderful experience that made our stay even more enjoyable. Room was good for the price.

The only thing missing from our stay was the homemade cookies that were mentioned on the welcome information in our room! 😄 After such an incredible dinner, I was really looking forward to trying them because I was convinced they would have been delicious too. Unfortunately, we never spotted them, and by the end of our stay I was far too shy to ask about them, especially after enjoying such a lovely complimentary breakfast. ☺️ Not a complaint at all, just a little thing that made me smile! 🍪💕

Staff were welcoming and friendly. Restaurant, bar food and breakfast were excellent. Large garden/patio to enjoy the sunshine. Room was quite spacious with a view out towards the forest. We chose room with large bed which was really comfortable. Plenty of parking Great location for exploring the New Forest. Fan to keep the room cool was appreciated.

Excellent food, good location, nice room.

GM was stressed due to kitchen issue, but quite rude to us. Check-in listed as 2pm on booking confirmation but he told us 3pm so we had to come back. Hair dryer so hot it burnt my head and PAT test was dated 2023. GM just said it had been PAT tested since then but the sticker dropped off. Any decent electrician would remove old sticker so that didn't strike us as truthful. Other staff were stand offish but it felt like a stressful environment to work in, so not surprised.
