Horwood House Hotel

Stayed a few times, much preferred the room location this time near the Stables for a 3 day stay. Pool and leisure facilities always welcome. The grounds and gardens are nice for a stroll. Breakfast has good choices.

Easy to get lost round the hotel corridors, restaurant can get pricy and busy so need to prebook.

The room was in the old Stables and was very comfortable

I had the fish and chips from the 'bar' menu, The chips were ok, the peas were trying too hard to be something special, the curry sauce was about the consistency of a thin soup and the fish, which appeared to be from frozen, was tasteless and was dripping in grease.

Amazing atmosphere, very clean rooms Comfortable beds and very quiet and serene

The facilities were good though the steam room and sauna were both quite small The breakfast too was very nice The room too was spacious

We were disappointed on a couple of occasions by the service from the staff. Firstly at check in there was a long quue and although there were others around, seemingly only one person doing the check in The second issue was in the evening when we went to the bar to get a drink. Despite being the only ones waiting to make a purchase it was over 5 minutes before one of the three people who were behind the counter acknowledged us. I appreciate that they were doing jobs but we would have at least expected to have been acknowledged. The third issue occurred when we tried to inform a desk attendant in the morning of a loss of power to the lights overnight and were made to feel like it was our fault and not reading through the lengthy booklet which apparently explained what to do in this situation (I noticed it at 3am in the dark!). My partner and I were both left flabbergasted by the attitude and response of the attendant
