Broadoaks Boutique Country House

We stayed in the retreat which was an amazing property, great for the kind of stay we wanted. It had everything, was super clean, had all amenities and was cosy. Bathtub was fabulous.

Breakfast was ok, didn’t have all options and lukewarm. Retreat was very hot so think in summer would be not as comfortable.

Food was great, plenty of breakfast options; same for dinner. Room was old school and quirky, we loved it. Would return.

The hotel grounds are lovely, although a bit dated on the inside. But you could say it’s in keeping with the hotel. Our room had a beautiful view of the fountain at the front. The young gentleman on reception helped me who I asked for the heating to be on and a free small bottle of Prosecco was in the room as it was my birthday which was a nice tough.

Staff could have took bags out the car, they did say ask if you need help but it didn’t really seem so. The tv in the bath didn’t have a remote and they couldn’t find it, so it ruined that experience being fun. The sink is also very small in the bathroom. It’s traditional toilet systems so it can be a bit noisy and there’s no fridge in the room. The glass that came with my Prosecco had lipstick on and the restaurant didn’t look very atmospheric, it’s the same room as breakfast laid out with tables and it didn’t look inviting so we went out for dinner. Breakfast was fine, a bit dry because it’s a buffet, but I feel that’s the same most places. We were told there was a menu to order from separate but never received one. They also need curtains, because with just one blind it’s so bright in the room as soon as the sun comes up I couldn’t sleep.
