Crown Hotel

Everything! Friendly staff, nice decor, comfortable room and amazing breakfast, central location and secure parking

The hotel and staff are lovely and very friendly and breakfast was superb! The 'real' milk, bottled water and flapjacks were a nice touch in my room.

I would have preferred to be in the main hotel with my friends. I liked my room, though I wish the bathroom door could be easily opened and stay open. I had the usual problem with the shower with the overhead shower coming on first and soaking my hair! It was a little bit pricey and I come from London!

The location was great and the room was cosy as advertised. The food was excellent but I found the service a bit slow.

There was limited drawer and hanging space. The step from the bed area to the bathroom requires modification or a grab rail as it is too deep and therefore is a safety hazard. There was also nowhere to hang a hand towel near the wash basin.

The Crown is in the centre of Stamford so very convenient. There is a car park at the rear in which we managed to find a space on both days. Our shower was very good and I liked the Elemis toiletries. Breakfast, which is all table service, was also good and the portions generous.

I paid extra for a room with a king-size bed but was extremely disappointed to find that we were in the basement with no window, only a curtained door onto an area with a stone staircase up to the street. Furthermore the stairs down from the hall to the room and those from the bedroom to the bathroom were steep and awkward. The room was cold, so, even though it was warm outside, I had to turn the heating on in the bedroom and the towel rail in the bathroom to maximum. At night I was cold and had to ask for extra blankets in order to be comfortable. The selection of tea and coffee in the room was basic and there were no extra, thoughtful touches in the bathroom (things like flannels, cotton wool balls, shower caps etc). The staff in general were polite but rather brusque. I thought the room was very poor value for money.
