Crow How Country Guest House

From the moment we arrived we felt at home. The owner had an extremely gentle and caring demeanor, and gave us the absolute best recommendations for walks, pubs, and restaurants in the area. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. Heating and hot water was instant. Lovely warm bedding and soft towels, locally sourced soaps etc. Absolutely perfect.

Someone travelling alone left a bad review in the guest book just before us. We honestly haven't stopped feeling angry about it because everything was so fantastic!

Fabulous bathroom. Comfortable bed. Cozy room, which became very warm (despite heating not being on) but had fan available to cool the room. Lovely old building. Lovely garden views. Nice breakfast.

No path lighting from the road to hotel, which was very difficult to navigate in dark around 8.30pm. Used our phone torches, so was ok. Fridge in bedroom could do to be on top of a small table, as people with bad backs may find difficult to reach down.

Location was exilent with very good parking facilities. Breakfast was good and filling with plennty of choice. What was not said in the write up was that the Crow How is located on the bus route linking Windermere, Ambleside, Grassmere and Keswick with a bus stop handy for both directions. This was a real assett with parking limitations in the area. Location I found ideal it was far enough out of Ambleside to be peacefull and quiet but near enogh to be handy.

The only down thing for me (and it was a very minor one) was the bath in my room. This was a dual purpose bath to designed for use as a bath and shower. For me the compromise was too much a cmpromise in favour of the shower. I spent all my days there out walking, when I got back my legs ached so it was nive to have a hot bath to relieve my aching musles. Unfortunatly the shap of the bath was too uncomfertabler to allow a long realaxing soak. This I stress was a very minor point and should not be held against the quest house. I was very gratefull for what I had got

Tranquil setting and in walking distance of Ambleside. Very clean.

Uncomfortable chair/settee in bedroom. Lack of table & chair to sit at inside for own supper.
