Apartment-Hotel am Rathaus

Todo muy limpio y cómodo! Buena ubicación, el detalle del café y los chocolates gratuito para los huéspedes me pareció muy bueno. Gracias

I booked a night to see the Backstreet Boys and overall I was very happy with my stay. I had room 7 at the very top and it was small with 2 single beds, but very clean and cosy. The bed was comfortable with a very nice duvet, and I slept well. The bathroom was small, but very clean and there were plenty fresh towels. The room had aircon and 2 windows that I could open, with a view of the square and the Rathaus. The location of this place is unmatched. You can walk anywhere and everywhere from here, and the tram/metro station is less than 5 minutes away. I liked that the drinks and snacks in the mini bar were free. I definitely helped myself to a bit of chocolate and a Coca Cola. I also liked that there was a coffee machine and kettle, though a few decaf coffee capsules would've been great.

I arrived very early and tried to leave my backpack with the restaurant next door, as per instruction from the hotel, but the Asian man was incredibly rude and unfriendly. He screamed at me that check-in was at 2pm, and when I asked if I could leave my bag, he hurriedly came right to the door, and pointed to a place at the very entrance of the restaurant where I could leave my bag. I obviously wasn't willing to do that, so I just left. Luckily, there was a lady outside who let me up to leave the bag at the reception desk. Later, the lady who checked me in was welcoming and friendly, which made up for my earlier experience, but she informed me that there was NO HOT WATER and it would be resolved in an hour. This was hardly ideal after being up since 4am and having to hang around for hours before checking in. I had a rest and waited an hour, but there still wasn't hot water. A cold shower after a long morning of traveling wasn't an option for me, so I boiled a kettle. I got back to the hotel around midnight and finally could have a hot shower. The many stairs didn't bother me at all, but it might be an issue for some.

My room was one of the suites and everything was spotless and comfortable and I liked the extra touches like the free chocolate and drinks in the fridge. Air con was appreciated too. The location is central with lots of food and drinks venues on the doorstep but the hotel was quiet.

There was no lift so taking luggage up to the 5th floor was a No no. After some discussion we changed room to the 1st floor. I suggest that the no lift should be mentioned. Also as there is no parking at the hotel, so add another 35 Euro per day for parking in a nearby parking garage. Staff speak very little German or English.
