Hotel Royal Palace

Location was what we needed, nice clean hotel

We asked for a cold glass of wine and got lukewarm wine in a half flute glass which we waited about 20mins for as they said the bar was shut but it was open. A slightly odd experience

The room was quiet. It was close to almost everything

Firstly we were put into room 506. The shower space was extremely small, only a child or very small adult would fit comfortably into. We asked to be changed and were accommodated, it seemed a little reluctantly by the receptionist. The second room, 503, was much better with a half decent shower. The whole hotel is a little dated. The beds were very firm and not so comfortable.

The triple rooms are amazing large and it helped us sleep a little more comfortably, as my travel companion snores! So it was heaven to have two separate sleeping chambers

The hotel is close to the train station and central to the main part of the city. The bed was clean and comfortable and service staff attentive and polite. The breakfast is good and the attendants very helpful.

There are no in room facilities for tea and coffee making which should be standard for a large hotel. The shower cubical is ridiculous small (photo attaced showing size of cubical door with a standard toot brush) and would be very difficult, if not impossible, for a large person or person with mobility issues. The windows are double glazed but still get significant noise from the busy road. The so called " flat screen TV" is small and no bigger than a computer screen. The air-conditioning is inefficient. The hotel advises a "Restaurant " but there is none, only a breakfast room. The so called "coffee shop" was not open in the morning. The operating lifts can be heard from our room during the night.
