Wookey Hole Hotel

Spacious room, everywhere appears well maintained. Parking available. Every staff member I met was friendly and helpful.

Bathroom stank of cigarette smoke. Another guest commented his whole room smelt of cigarette smoke.. It is a typical English tourist hotel. From another era, so felt dared. Evidenced by the restaurant which sold very simple plain food but well cooked and matched the hotel.

Great room, booked at the last minute but everything we needed was there and fresh. Great location as well! Loved the decorations, disappointed that we didn't have more time to explore. And breakfast was delicious.

Location you couldnt fault. Lovely to drive straight on to the site and the front door was just a stones throw away. Plenty of parking and pleasant receptionist. Room sizes were fine.

We recently stayed at Wookey Hole Hotel and, whilst there were some positives, unfortunately the overall experience was a little disappointing. Starting with the positives, the staff were friendly and welcoming, which is always appreciated. The bar had a good selection of drinks, and breakfast certainly served its purpose, with a reasonable choice on offer. That said, we did feel breakfast was perhaps a little on the expensive side, particularly given that it was a buffet rather than something freshly made to order. Unfortunately, the biggest letdown was the condition of the hotel itself. It really does feel quite dated and tired, and the rooms in particular could benefit from some much-needed attention. The décor was uninspiring, but more concerning were the maintenance issues, including a cracked door, damp stains on the wall and peeling surfaces in the bathroom. These little things all add up and give the impression that the rooms haven't had the care and attention they need. We had arrived late-ish and decided not to ask to be moved as our son was ready for bed. We certainly weren't expecting five-star luxury, but there's a difference between a hotel being basic and one that feels neglected. A little more finesse, some general maintenance and a refresh of the rooms would make a huge difference. It's a shame because the hotel has potential, particularly with its location being so convenient for families visiting Wookey Hole. The staff are clearly doing their bit to make guests feel welcome, but the surroundings really do let the experience down.
