Staff were attentive but gave you space. Room and bathroom were spacious. Drinking water, tea, coffee, snacks and umbrellas were provided, and the bonus evening turn-down service with a little treat was so lovely. I didn't miss the lack of TV (great books on offer), and really appreciated the darkness to allow for morning sleep-ins. The hotel and room (Anistar 3) were excellent for three guests.

It would have been great to have a small fridge in the room. Some accessibility issues if you are mobility-impaired or in a wheelchair.

The location was excellent. Walking distance to wonderful street food, and a quaint and nostalgic food shop making their own kueh and curry just behind the hotel. Staff were nice and helpful. Good coffee places also nearby.

The room was tiny. Stayed 2 nights. Would have been a challenge to feel conformable to stay longer.

East Indies Mansion is one of those rare places where you really feel that every detail matters. Perfectly located in the heart of Georgetown, just steps from Armenian Street, Chulia Street, and plenty of great restaurants and attractions. The mansion itself is a beautifully restored historic Chinese house. Each room is unique, decorated with elegant antique furniture, and kept immaculately clean. The linens and towels smell wonderfully fresh, and even the toiletries like soap, shampoo, and conditioner are of excellent quality. But above all, The staff truly made the stay exceptional. Everyone was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. During our stay, there was a small incident where a personal item of great importance to us was accidentally thrown away. The team went above and beyond to make it right and managed to find a replacement for us. That level of care and genuine kindness is something you’ll never forget. If we return to Penang, East Indies Mansion will absolutely be our first choice.

Internet signal was so weak we couldn’t really connect. Really bad. I complained from day one and nothing was done that fixed the problem.
