Hôtel Le Haut des Lys

The room was not overly large but very clean - as was the bathroom, with a comfortable bath. As the hotel is just a stone's throw away from the château and gardens, the location is excellent. Parking was perfect, safe and free of charge. The option to have dinner in the hotel restaurant was very welcome at the time.

Total cost not 100% justified for the provided levels of luxury. Quality of the dinner was a bit disappointing.

Great location near Villandry. Everything very clean and the staff are wonderful, we chose to stay for dinner which was served on the terrace . It was a set menu but absolutely lovely with a good selection of wines and champagne by the glass. The garden was peaceful with a hot tub and loungers

The decoration was very modern and not really in keeping with the old property lots of brown. The bathroom whilst very clean was in need of a refurb. Having said that we would stay again

We liked that parking was onsight since we were driving a rental car. We liked the view from the upstairs room onto the property and field with cows grazing. We liked the friendlyness of the owners and staff. The Chateau Villandry is right in the town. The surrounding countryside is very beautiful.

The building has been totally renovated to modern standards which sometimes can have a cold feeling and not very cozy. Our room was not swept or straightened for the days that we were there. We did not like the fact that it was hard to get meal nearby or at the hotel without spending more than $25 euros per person. We don't spend that much back home on a daily basis and since we were staying 4 nights it was not viable. The surrounding area is very quiet, VERY QUIET. There were no shops of interest nearby. Thank goodness there was a boulangerie nearby that opened very early when we set out every day for exploring. We chose this location as a base for exploring the Loire Valley, but would have preferred something with better eating choices and shopping and entertainment.
