Myself and my friend had the best time at Shanti Ghar! It truly felt like a home away from home. Everyone who works there is just amazing, so welcoming and helpful throughout. We really enjoyed the breakfast each morning . We had the pleasure of having dinner with Pascale and other guests one evening and I must say it will be one of the most memorable nights in Mauritius. The fish lasagna was 10/10! Pascale you are a star and an entertainer!
The bedroom was lovely and spacious with everything that we needed and a beautiful view of the mountains. I hope we get to go back soon and will be recommending Shanti Ghar Guesthouse to friends visiting!

Travelling alone to Mauritius for the first time for a wedding, I wasn't certain if this would be a good option for me or if I should instead have found a hotel. Boy am I glad I didn't. From the moment I arrived I was made to feel welcome and at home. The hosts were extremely friendly, kind, and accommodating. Although I arrived an hour before my check-in, I was graciously entertained while my room was still being prepared, and introduced to the five cats and two dogs (all rescues) that are lucky enough to live there full-time.
My room itself had a comfy double bed, air-con, ceiling fan, a fridge stocked with cold water, a personal safe, television, and plenty of wardrobe and storage space. The shower in the en-suite bathroom could be switched between rainfall, handheld, and tap, and towels were replaced every few days. And finally there was a private terrace looking out at La Tourelle Mountain, where I was frequently visited by the sweet and affectionate Pauline (pictured twice on the terrace and also cosied up to me as I waited for a taxi).
Breakfast was included in my rate and consisted a wide range of cereal, pastries, eggs, bread and spreads. Each morning I'd be greeted by one of the lovely Anne-Christine, Pascale, or Zac, who'd also offer to have my room refreshed while I ate.
Most weekdays the hosts offer to cook dinner where you can meet with other guests and try authentic Mauritian Creole food. Sadly I was only able to attend one of these dinners due to my schedule but I was so grateful for the opportunity and I highly recommend it to anyone who stays here -- it is well worth the 900 rupees and you won't be disappointed.
Thank you to whole the team at Shanti Ghar for such a lovely and relaxing stay. If I ever return to Mauritius (and really I hope I do), I know exactly where I will be staying again.
My only regret is that I didn't stay longer.

Bungalow was very spacious and comfortable. Pool and surroundings were picturesque.
A car was essential. Ubers worked well.

I like such authentic villas. Looked nice. The stuff organised taxi for excursion early in the morning and waited for our late check out. Offered anti-mosquito spray, there are a lot of them in the mountains.
But all the first good expression disappeared in the morning. We were staying for just one night. Decided to return to Tamarin because my daughter wanted to swim with wales, some early morning excursion. We asked for an early breakfast for her in 5-30, they promised “some bread” but did nothing.
But when I arrived on breakfast I was surprised. I have traveled a lot all over the world, my daughter is a travel blogger also. This breakfast was the poorest I have ever seen. I thought it was some joke. Only omlete and one cheese and papaya for all the guests. For 144 euros for b&b in the middle of nowhere when It’s not possible to eat nearby. Coffee was disappointing, and on Mauritius it’s good everywhere.
I have stayed a lot in similar guesthouses and was expecting rich local fresh farmer food or smth like this. It seemed as owners are very mingy and are trying to give for minimum, taking from the tourists for maximum.
And as they are economising on everything I think the water that they delivered to the room and on breakfast wasn’t from bottle. Anyway only in this hotel after a week of trip I’ve got stomach problems.
Not worth this price. Needs a normal breakfast or much cheaper rate.
We rented before much better airbnb in Tamarin for 110 euros with a good private beach in luxurious Esplanade complex. And it was without breakfast but owners left much more than here were it’s B&B and it had direct access to a beach and stylish pool.
Beach. From Shanti Ghar you are going to a public one that looks really not good, we didn’t swim there. By steps it took us 30 minutes.
