The Langham, Shanghai, Xintiandi

The staff were supremely friendly, and there was a lot of attention to customer service. The room was comfortable and well-appointed. There were various luxurious food options, with very nice breakfast and afternoon tea. It's in a perfect location for ease of access. The treatment in the spa was great: the lady providing the treatment was amazing, the spa treatment room was nicely set up, and the service with tea was a nice touch. I want to reiterate once again how great staff were at reception, breakfast, the club lounge, and cleaning staff. I appreciate it!

I have to admit that I found the hotel a bit too loud and busy and crowded for my taste, but that is personal preference. What I was most disappointed with was the pool area, which was underwhelming, and not very comfortable. The music in the pool was nice, but the whirlpool somehow didn't feel well maintained and seemed cramped, and the overall atmosphere was not calming. There was a lack of customer service there, which was in stark contrast with the Great customer service elsewhere in the hotel. And having to walk from the changing room through the fitness area to get to the pool did not help either. I wished the atmosphere of the spa and service of the masseuse in the spa extended to the pool. These are important letdowns in a hotel of this price range.

Easy, quiet luxury; great location, perfect size, very friendly and helpful staff and a truly international breakfast buffet.

Great location in a beautiful area. So many lovely restaurants & cafes nearby. Staff went above and beyond to help & order food & Didis for us to be delivered. The health area (gym, saunas, steam, etc) felt like a day spa - so beautiful. Rooms were tidied daily with a nighttime check in too for when you arrive home after dinner.
