The food was great and the staff were lovely. The hotel's location is marvellous, on the shore at the end of the Crinan Canal, backed by ancient woodland and offering marvellous views. There's a very interesting and endearing atmosphere about the place. The walls are lined with Frances Macdonald's fine landscapes. Our visit coincided with Robert Berry playing piano in the gallery - an excellent event hosted with wit and charm by the remarkable Frances.
It ain't cheap - but it's well worth experiencing.

Location and food also attentive staff
The hotel is in need of refurbishment and the classic room we stayed in was very small and the decor and furnishings were dated.
