The included breakfast buffet was lacking in proteins and mostly pastries.

All ok!
I don’t know, why you have to pay at the begining of your stay

The front desk staff was very accommodating as we checked in close to mid night due to flight delay
among other things, the toilet was not flushing; the air conditioner was making terrible noises. As we were only staying for a few hours overnight, we didn't bother changing room and just reported to the front desk the next morning.
