Hotel Fabrica do Chocolate

For the price this is an excellent hotel. Our room was very clean and although it had no air conditioning it had a fan which was fine. We couldn’t hear much noise from the main road behind either even with the window open. Breakfast was excellent value too.

Lovely to see a converted building retaining its history.

Breakfast would have been better as a buffet as were were given a gorgeous platter with things we could not eat such as ham along with a list of 30 other options we could request which made it very difficult for the servers especially those who did not have brilliant English. We ended up with oat milk instead of oat milk for example. All that being said we would definitely recommend the hotel and come back again.

The staff was excellent--very friendly, helpful and cheerful. A young lady named Sara was outstanding and did everything she could to help make our stay a success. The location was good and the breakfast was generous.

The design of the room was ridiculous. There was no place to sit--one small chair; and absolutely no place to put your luggage. The closet were small and had those hangers that are designed to be impractical to steal but the bars were very high and very difficult to use. The lighting everywhere was difficult and shadowy. The lighting around the mirror in the bathroom was glary and misdirected--very difficult to see. The toilet was not private with a glass door and no door to the actual room. We had a huge terrace and only a tiny table and two folding chairs. It was called the Cinema Room and the decorations were upside down. Whoever designed the room did not know what they were doing.
