Hotel Shawandha Costa Rica

The hotel was beautiful overall. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the location, and the facilities. Everything was clean and well maintained, and I had a very pleasant stay. And we have a visit from ms Slot..

The only thing I didn't really like was the mattress. It was one of those thin foam mattresses, so it wasn't very comfortable. I've stayed in other rooms at this hotel before and I know they have good mattresses, so maybe this particular room, being one of the more affordable options, just didn't have one. Other than that, everything was great.

The whole hotel is beautiful and nicely maintained. So much plants and wildlife, absolutely georgeous. The A/C was good (and necessary). The beds are comfortable and the location is great with some very good restaurants nearby and an access to the beach right across the street. Breakfast is also good. The 70meter high tree is very impressing!

The information we got from the staff about opening hours of the restaurant were a little confusing. At check-in, they told us from 1pm to 9:30pm the kitchen would be open. Then we got a whatsapp from the reception, saying it is open from 12pm to 8:30pm. So we came back from the beach at 12 for lunch and it was not open. 1pm they told us again. Next day we wanted to have dinner at 6:30pm and the restaurant was completely empty. A staff member from the kitchen then said "only for pizza or chicken fingers" so we went out instead. The pizza we had one evening was terrific though. We also did not have warm water in the shower, which we mentioned at the reception, asking if someone could have a look. They said of course, but nothing happened.
