The Crown Inn

Warm, comfortable, central location, great food

Lovely Lakeland Inn, very welcoming and friendly, set in a beautiful village. The bar itself was great and the food good.

Our room needs re-furbishing! Lovely bed though.

The Crown Inn was in a good location in the heart of Coniston which is a small village. The breakfast was excellent and my husband enjoyed the full english everyday! We ate in the restaurant twice and both times was very good with nice staff and a buzy atmosphere. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We did manage to park each day but it does get busy during the day with visitors to the area and so had to park in a side street once or twice and wait for the carpark to empty to move our car back in the carpark.

The room was very nice but a little dark. There was plenty of lamps and a centre light, I think its just the type of building and so understand. There was an area in the bedroom to put toiletries on but the bathroom only had a very small shelf above the sink and could do with something a bit more substantial to place your item. Our room was at the front opposite the church and the church bell chimed ramdomly during the night - was too loud but we did hear it a few times. Wouldn't put us off but might ask for a different room next time to help with that.

Re: How was your stay at the Crown Inn? smoke alarm positioned directly above the bed had bright flashing light, kept us awake during the night, I had to put a T-shirt over my head to block out the flashing light. There was also a couple of bugs near the tea and coffee area in the room in the morning that looked similar to German or American cockroach. When squashed, they seeped white stuff which was disgusting. Glad we only stayed one night. Asked staff about these issues. Got told the flashing light was because they class this as a universally accessible room and needs to be better lit - I didn’t find it to be an accessible room, but even if it was, it would still disturb sleep. They’ve passed on the bug information to the housekeeping team.
