Pachira Lodge

The location was excellent. The pool area and bar were perfect. The nature around the hotel and the closeness to the town was ideal. It’s worth doing the extras - we saw so much on the canal tour and the turtle nesting tour was the highlight of our trip. We saw loads of monkeys and toucans around the hotel. All the staff were amazing - Ray in particular (the naturalist) was particularly excellent. Would recommend Pachira to anyone going to tortuego and arranging the transport/tours through them.

The rooms were a little dark and the bathroom was a bit outdated but we weren’t there to spend time in the room anyways. There is a beautiful open area/function room overlooking the pool which was in perfect state, shame it’s not open for guests to use or as a dining area.

to get to Tortugero village you always need to go by water taxi, I had the impression that the hotel is catering more tour groups than individual travellers
