Hedgefield House

Friendly staff, clean facilities, fun and quirky decor. Beds were comfy, bathroom very clean, lots of hot water, windows opened.

We had a hard time finding it. It's tucked back off the main road in a small (quaint and attractive) cluster of buildings. The main gate is on the main road but no sign. And for us, coming on foot from the Hadrian's Wall path, it was a long walk at the end of a long day.

Quirky, friendly host, location next to restaurant, location to access northumbria roads on my motorbike, electric gates so no-one could steal my bike, nice shower

Maybe nice to have a breakfast option but they did it at nearby restaurant. Slight icing on cake might be posts to chain motorbikes to - we are very paranoid - but electric gates and well lit carpark so probably not necessary

We were walking Hadrian’s Wall and our stay at Hedgefield House was a special treat, unfortunately it proved below expectations. On arrival, we weren’t made to feel particularly welcome, with the greeting simply being, “Do you have a reservation?” It wasn’t the warm reception we had hoped for. The room itself was hot and stuffy, and despite leaving the windows open, it was difficult to cool down. Unfortunately, the room was directly overlooked by the car parking, so we had to trade between some fresh air or any real privacy, as the curtains and blinds had to remain open. Overall, our experience was disappointing.
