La Casa de Melgar

Very romantic backstory; clean and well-situated for the sites of the city.

Breakfast was not as grand as the buildings.

Large room with bathroom in an historic palace. Full of colonial charm. The hot water were well and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is great, a short walk to the Santa Catalina convent or Plaza de Armas.

La Casa de Melgar is a beautiful place with so much charm. The gardens full of flowers, the old photographs, antique pottery and objects, and the lovely colours all create a very special and authentic atmosphere. Our room was very spacious, beautifully decorated, and genuinely a pleasure to spend time in. We really loved the atmosphere of the entire property. The location is excellent, very close to the city centre, and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. La Casa de Melgar was definitely one of the best places we have stayed during our travels. It is a place full of character and charm, with an atmosphere that stays with you. We would happily stay here again.

The breakfast was quite simple in my opinion, but we noticed that this was generally the case throughout our trip in Peru, so I wouldn’t consider it a significant downside.
