The grounds were lovely. Location was great. The staff were very friendly.
Our room. The bathroom smelled really bad, couldn't open a window either. One cup hadn't been cleaned, the throw on the bed had stains on and was crusty. The radiators haven't been dusted in a long time. The bathroom floor was dirty. The price we paid to stay for a night we should have had better cleanliness. It was a birthday treat and had been looking forward to coming for a while but felt very dissapointed with the room.

The staff were so nice and the restaurant / food was great (loved the layout and decor). Really enjoyed the little walks too, great scenery and so peaceful.
Room was very creaky, I know we stayed in a guest house and they can be a bit older however you could hear the room creak every time you moved, the shower was dirty and could see like a black grit in the corners of the showers. The TV didn’t work either. We stayed in Alnwick at the Ballifgate hotel the night before for the same money and it was nowhere near as good.

Beautifully designed, very comfortable beds, food excellent, friendly and very helpful staff (dealt amazingly with no dairy diet).
Room (pole barn 6) had very poor lighting - couldn’t see in mirror to put on makeup, bathroom lighting and mirror not much better), no wardrobe space just four hooks that already had bathrobes on and only one hook in the bathroom. A big wedding venue meant large groups took over the restaurant, which was very noisy. Overall the place has fantastic potential, but the attention to detail and individual customer comfort - for all customers - is lacking.
