1908 Lisboa Hotel

Sometimes photos of a hotel on a website only tell you so much. This is the case with the 1908 Hotel Lisboa. What are its high points. Staff are friendly, helpful and full of good advice. The breakfast is excellent. Tick location as very good as it is only a short walk to Lisbon’s big squares tourist trap heart. It’s in an area that is part of older 19th-20th century Lisbon which is in the early stages redevelopment. The hotel is part of that change. One side of the hotel backs on to a main road into the city. The other onto a large triangle which we’ll call a square that has a number of good and relatively cheap restaurants on one side. Pricier and very good eateries are not too far away. Low point: The rooms and bathrooms are small (think Paris three star in which you can’t swing a cat). It has an eclectic clientele, or as my partner put it: “All ages. Everything from bohemian to chic pretending they are slumming it.” My test for hotels anywhere is: What is the likelihood that we would stay there again? I’d certainly give it shot. As my partner said: “In 10 years you won’t know this place.” That’s a good assessment.

We had a lovely stay at the 1908 hotel. The staff were wonderful, giving us the best recommendations to enjoy our time in Lisbon. The breakfast was delicious and the room (and hotel bed) was incredibly comfortable. 10/10 would recommend.

My husband and I have just returned from an excellent 5 night stay at the 1908 Lisboa Hotel. The hotel has been beautifully restored and the rooms are exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Although our room was facing the road, it was very quiet at night. The bed was extremely comfortable and the air conditioning was effective during the hot weather we experienced during our stay. We found the Staff to be very friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts each morning were very good. The Location of the hotel was perfect for us - we travelled from the airport into Lisbon by metro. We found this to be an easy and very cheap way to reach the hotel. One change of line got us to the Intendente metro station in about 35 minutes from the airport and then it was a 7 minute walk to the hotel . The location of the hotel is good too , with a 10-15 minute walk to the hustle and bustle of Baixa with lots of shops and restaurants, however there are some restaurants very close to the hotel too. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return to this hotel again in the future.
