Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa

I like how the location is close to the Ala Moana Shopping Mall, Target and Walmart. My family stayed here last year and this is the reason I came back.

No airport shuttle.

Clean, convenient location, steamer iron available in the room, bidet, complimentary bottled water, free tumblers

Only valet parking available and additional $59 fee for parking per night; light switch wasn’t working properly; view out the window into side of another building

I loved the friendliness of the staff and the spa amenities.

I didn't care for the attitude of the shuttle driver. His tone was always unfriendly. Our first day there we wanted to go to the Ala Moana Shopping Center. He repeated several times it was across the street. We communicated back a couple times that we understood but wanted to be driven over nonetheless. He appeared annoyed. I also thought the prices of Sera were too expensive for breakfast. I also didn't like we weren't offered turn down service or have our room cleaned.

Location and proximity to local restaurants and shops (that’s about it)

Access to some floors were restricted after hours (e.g. pool) and understandably so due to liability reasons; uncomfortable beds that sank into the middle of mattress due to wear and tear; valet or room service phone line is non-existent and must be connected through the concierge/front desk; hung up on multiple occasions while waiting; service cart was left on the guest floor and remained there for the duration of the trip (4 days); valet area is congested and uber rides were in mix of hotel guests waiting for their cars; restaurant hosts were not attentive and understaffed; my room HVAC made a rattling noise when the AC was on; thin walls and can hear our neighbor coughing and talking; bidet toilet had a pungent smell and had it turned off during our stay; requested a shower but given a bathtub; etc.
