On Jekyll Island the ocean breezes are calling…the most beautiful coastal sunset in Georgia wants to say hello!!
Jekyll Island didn’t have to work hard to earn the nickname “Georgia’s Jewel”. As soon as your car crosses over the causeway, you understand why this serene little stretch of sand was the playground of America’s most famous northern industrialist generations ago.
Steeped in a rich history worthy of Hollywood movies, Jekyll Island sits quietly, waiting to welcome weary travelers in need of a calming vacation.
If you seek heart-pounding adventures on you vacations, Jekyll Island is not for you. If you yearn for simple days by the sea…what are you waiting for??
Jekyll Island is unique in that it is the only undeveloped Golden Isle that is accessible by car. Sixty-five percent of the island remains untouched, showcasing the inspiring beauty of what its cluttered, noisy neighbors used to be.
It’s a golfer’s mecca, a naturalist’s dream, a fitness buff’s unimagined outdoor gym.

It’s not always easy to judge a listing by the pictures. This was a nice Vrbo, though a little dated. When we first walked in we immediately noticed a smell like mildew, which seemed to come from the downstairs area. (I contacted our host; he answered promptly that he was unaware and let housekeeping know.) The smell was unpleasant, but it was bearable. Otherwise, the house was clean. There were enough towels, which is always a plus, and the beds were comfortable. Parking was doable and included but we rarely got a space neat our door, I think in part due to the restaurant across the lot. There is a flight of stairs to climb - I didn’t pay attention to that picture. It was quiet, though, and close to Driftwood Beach. Overall, I’d say good, but not great.

Most Vrbo I have stayed in had minor kitchen supplies like salt and pepper. This was more like a hotel with a kitchen and than would be nice to know in advance. We had to wash all the pans, glasses etc. before using. The listing had checkout at 12 and the front desk was insisting on 11. Best part was walking distance to Driftwood beach.
