Pension Starlight Azumi

I had an amazing stay at Pension Starlight Azumi. It’s a very cozy, homey, family-owned lodge that instantly makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. The hosts were absolutely lovely and incredibly welcoming. The location is fantastic, super close to the chair lifts, in a quiet area, with plenty of food options and rental shops nearby. It’s also only about a 15-minute walk to the heart of Happo-one and very close to public transport, which made it easy to get around Hakuba and visit different resorts. Breakfast is available for an additional charge and was exceptional, you just need to let the hosts or staff know the day before if you’d like it. The toilets and showers were very clean, and overall the place felt well looked after and great value for money. The atmosphere is very chill and peaceful, perfect if you want a quieter retreat after a day on the slopes. The living room was especially cosy, with a lovely view, and became one of my favourite spots to relax. I’d highly recommend this place to solo travellers, couples, or anyone looking for a comfortable, quiet stay in Hakuba. I’d happily stay here again.

We had an amazing stay at this location! Super cozy and perfect after a long day of snowboarding. The hosts are very kind and welcoming. Amenities were always very tidy. If you’re looking to experience Japan, this is definitely the place.

I Loved Starlight Azumi but enjoyed the experience provided by the Japanese family who hosts and owns Starlight Azumi, a real sense of living in the snowy area of Hakuba, with family photos displayed throughout, you definitely get a feel of a genuinely cozy family run pension. I loved it and stayed for 10 nights with plans to return next year, Very reasonably priced and very central. You could very easily walk to Happo One.

A really nice semi traditional Japanese ski lodge which is run by a very friendly Japanese family who went above and beyond to answer any questions and make my stay both interesting and comfortable. Location was great if you are wanting to be near the Hapo 47 Ski lifts and Hakuba shuttle bus (5 minute walk) Only around 15-20 minute walk into the main Hakuba area.

Furniture in the rooms was a little out-dated but that does add to the charm of the place
