Guest House Bake

Lovely warm welcome 🤗 Family run guest house with food & drink available. Hostess made me a cappuccino on arrival ☕

I have slight mobility issues so be warned it is a climb up and down to nearby places of interest and old town ....but to be expected as it is high in the mountains! The host is a taxi driver and is happy to give a lift if needed 😃

The hosts were helpful, caring and delightful. The meals they provided were of a high standard.

This is the third time we've stayed at Guest House Bake as the first time the view blew us away, still does. The rooms are traditional but really nice with comfy beds and great showers with plenty of hot water and nice soaps and shampoos. Parking is very safe inside the gates so easy to get to. Very good breakfast served on the terrace with a spectacular view by very pleasant and helpful hosts. Just a ten minute walk to the bazaar down a bit of a steep slope, hence the views, but we're quite old and it wasn't a problem for us :) Fantastic value for money even in July, would happily recommend. The photos on line don't do it justice so am adding some taken this visit.

The cheap room we got (we did not know why it was cheaper, but apparently following are the reasons) was just next to terrace where breakfast is served. That would not be an issue, but the room has no air conditioning and in order to keep low temperature we were encouraged to open the main door and close only mosquito net door. This did the job, but shortly after 6 started preparations for breakfast, coffee machine and loud radio woke up all of us and that was end of the sleep. Breakfast was below average, simple choice. If you want a coffee, it is charged extra 1EUR !!!! Come on. Beds are strange. You can feel literally each spring in it. I had a good sleep (until breakfast preparations), but rest of the family was not happy. Maybe somebody may like it, but this is first time I had something like this ever. If you are driving a car, BE CAREFUL. Location of this apartment if almost at the top of the city and there leads literally a MAZE of one way narrow steep roads. Believe me, way up can ruin your day, especially if you are driving at night and pick wrong turn. Owners helped us, came to us and showed the way, but this was stressful and time consuming. I know many others were also lost. If you are using google, you have to arrive from Rruga Bashkim Kokona and call owners if you are lost. Most likely other rooms were better concerning the noise, but they were considerable more expensive. For this price you can have a better sleep and breakfast in Albania.
