Tokyu Stay Kyoto Sakaiza Shijo Kawaramachi

Deluxe Twin Room with Extra Bed and Washing Machine (Non-Smoking) The room was clean and compact but comfortable enough for our stay. Although it was the same size as a hotel room we stayed in Tokyo (24 sqm), the layout made it feel a little more spacious. Having a washer-dryer in the room was a big plus, as we could do our laundry at any time of the day. Laundry detergent was also provided, which was a thoughtful and convenient touch. The hotel is surrounded by plenty of shops and restaurants, with train stations within walking distance, making it a convenient base for exploring the area. The large window let in plenty of natural light, making a noticeable difference to the overall feel of the room. Although the view wasn’t anything special, the window helped make the space feel brighter and more open. The staff were very friendly and accommodated all of our requests.

They didn’t have in-house luggage transfer facilities.

It is just so spacious! They also offer free sake for a good portion of the day and into the evening. It is in a good location that is central for sightseeing in Kyoto for all the major sites and is very close to the train station and a major shopping market area. The ramen place right next to it is delicious and it is conveniently located next to convenience stores and several malls for shopping on rainy days.

It would be helpful if the washer/dryer had an easier option, there are several. But once you figure it out, it is easy enough! It just takes a long time and does not open until it cools down.

Great location if you want to be in the middle of all the action of the area. Lots of shopping and sight seeing to be done within close distance. In room washing machine is extremely convenient. Good selection of self-service amenities.

Our initial room had a terrible musty smell due to an issue with the in room washing machine or plumbing and as an asthmatic I had a very bad time the first night as they said it was too late for them to arrange another room for us. We tried to resolve the issue ourselves by running the air purifier and air conditioning and purchased a carbon filter to try and reduce the smell, but nothing worked and we both woke up feeling very unwell. Bedding was very hot and scratchy, had to have the air conditioning quite low to be comfortable, this isn’t exactly uncommon though.
