Overall we really enjoyed our stay at this home, which has so much to do for kids both on the property and in the region. The spacious yard and basement are great, and there is plenty of room to spread out and relax. The indoor pool is of course a huge draw to this home, but unfortunately left us disappointed. The pool caused lung and eye irritation in all of us, and our young children developed a painful rash. The owners were very responsive when we reached out about this, and suggested adding a very small amount of hydrogen peroxide and gave us access to this as well as test strips which were initially locked up. The test strips revealed that the pH of the water was VERY acidic. The owners then promptly came the following morning to adjust the chemicals, though they took the test strips with them and so we did not feel comfortable using the pool for the remainder of our stay. It may be wise for future guests to inquire about professional management of the pool and water testing.

The house was large and beautiful. Very clean, a great location for visiting Acadia National Park. We were unable to use the pool however because the amount of chlorine in the water (and air) in the pool room caused our eyes to burn/water, irritated our skin and made us all cough (within minutes even after leaving the windows open in hopes of airing the room out). It doesn't seem like many other visitors encountered this during their stay, so it's possible that the pool was recently treated prior to our stay- but was a definite bummer since that was a major reason for our booking this property.

My family and I enjoyed staying at this property for the new year. We swam in the pool daily, cooked food, and ate family-style. We sat in front of the fireplace, and we even battled each other in a game of ping-pong. We ventured into the town of Bar Harbor and it was a cute sleeping town during this time of year we found one restaurant that was open and my husband got to enjoy a nice hot butter lobster roll. We were happy to hike all the way to the gulf of Maine and the weather was not cold, and it only snowed once while we were there and in a couple hours you didn’t notice that it snowed at all. The house was very secluded the kitchen was well packed, and I appreciate how it was easy to contact the owner with any questions. This was our first time spending New Year’s out of state, and it won’t be our last because we enjoyed it so much. Thank you again for sharing your home with us.

The kitchen is stocked. There is only a Keurig, so come prepared for that (we just bring our coffee maker with us). The beds and furniture are very soft — a positive for some and not for others. The major issue this time was the pool, but more so the owner’s reaction. The pool is the reason we come to this house. We have kids, and they love bringing their friends to the pool house. There was black algae in the pool. It covered most of the ladder, it was all around the drain and any areas where the liner was wrinkled. We contacted the owner, and they told us they noticed it the day prior, did what the pool people told them to do, that it would be gone in 24 hrs, and that it was harmless. Many aspects of that response aren’t accurate — we spoke to the pool people (at the owner’s request), and they couldn’t guarantee it was harmless, they told us the protocol for removing black algae takes days and renders the pool unusable for that time period (I’m interested to see any reviews from shortly after our stay). The owners noticed the algae in the pool and didn’t tell us ahead of time. Even if it was actually harmless, it looks awful so a heads up seems appropriate. We didn’t use the pool, and they gave us one night’s refund. They offered us a full refund if we had left immediately.

Something for everyone from relaxing (indoor pool and hot-tub) to competitions (basketball, volleyball and ping-pong). Location is a bit remote so you feel a little isolated at night, but waking every morning to deer in the front and back yards was a wonder to behold. The host was super responsive to questions and/or comments. If you get the chance - stay here, you won't regret it!

This property is secluded on the quiet side of the island. At the same time it is close to great hiking, biking, and Bar Harbor. It is an astronomer’s dream with no artificial lights visible from the property. The Milky Way stretches from horizon to horizon. The house is huge and the indoor, in ground pool is perfect for when the outside weather does not cooperate. This was our second time at this property and we plan on going back again.

Hot tub, gourmet kitchen.. love fact that no shoes in the house ( we never wear shoes in our house either), makes you feel clean, beautiful backyard, front yard.. just so relaxing.. house well kept, clean.. beds were comfortable..wish there were 2 full bathrooms upstairs..only little inconvenient..but overall, very homey feeling. Though little secluded, drive to bar harbor, Jordan pond.. was easy..went for sunrise, sunset, Cadillac mountain..just beautiful place.. and when got home tired, enjoyed pool & hot tub..

If you’re looking for lots of lots of space to spread out and to play, this would be a good place for you. Not very cozy, but plenty of room. The star show at night was fabulous. The owner was very responsive to the few issues we had.

This house was amazing! I am begging my husband to build me an indoor pool which we enjoyed everyday! The basketball court was an extra bonus that my husband and son's loved. The beds were comfortable and house was very spacious. We would highly recommend this property.

This was our first visit to MDI and we wanted to have a little more room than a standard hotel or B&B. The home was incredible. It was beyond spacious with plenty of room to hang out. The kitchen/dining room was open so I could cook and still see/talk with everyone. The kitchen had every possible appliance and gadget to prepare meals. The beds were comfortable and all linens were supplied. The pool and hot tub were great for unwinding at the end of the day. The home is in a very quiet neighborhood on the Southwest side of the island. It was less than 20 minutes to the nearest park entrance and around 30 minutes to Bar Harbor. But there is still plenty to see and do on that side of the island if you want to avoid the tourist traps and explore a bit. There were a couple of lobster pounds/shacks close by as well.

Our party of six agrees with most of the previous reviews. This is a clean, uncluttered, and spacious place; there was plenty of room. The kitchen has a more complete set of tools and basic ingredients (e.g., spices, baking power, honey, etc.) than other places we've stayed. Everyone had a restful and enjoyable time. The beds and furniture were very comfortable and the kids found plenty of fun activities.
