Grove House - Woodbridge

Location was good for me and staff were excellent

Staff were always available but unobtrusive. When approached, they were warm and friendly. They would always respond positively, helping where they could, and go the extra mile. They were extremely flexible with the catering, and provided a very good choice of dishes. The bedroom was very well equipped, and I didn't get disturbed by the busy traffic on the A12 nearby. At a difficult time in my life, I will always remember my pleasant stay at Grove House.

The only slight drawback for me was the separate bathroom down the corridor, but I quickly adapted to the situation. The walk into town was a bit of a trek, but I also had access to the very good taxi service based at Woodbridge station.

Host was amazing. Room was lovely. Breakfast was fab. The fact they had a bar which they would serve you from on request (we did use on our 2nd night), the dinners on offer (again used on our 2nd night). Great staff who were very happy to help.

The WiFi in our room didnt have a strong enough signal (location at one end of the hotel) but it did in the rest of the hotel. There apparently were other Wifi connections we could have used. We spoke to the manager who was very happy that we had flagged this to him and he was going to provide in room instructions for future guests.

The staff especially the lady who booked us in and also was there in the morning doing breakfasts. She was really helpful and so friendly.

First room smelt of damp. They did move us to a different room. This was better as didn’t smell but the bed was smaller and the shower was also smaller too. Decoration was dated, mattress wasn’t very comfortable and the shower wasn’t very clean with damp/mould around the shelf in the shower. Room was also cold with no way to heat it up. Unfortunately the breakfast was also not very good. The bacon was far too crispy (when picking up it didn’t bend at all. The beans and mushrooms were cold so I had to ask for the to be heated up. I do believe they had only just taken it over and are maybe having teething issues.
