I stayed at the Conrad Beijing, and while it has a strong reputation, my experience was unfortunately let down by several issues. The facilities felt dated and not well-maintained. In the bathroom, there were visible water stains and rust marks, and the carpets were noticeably unclean — you could clearly see dirty patches that had not been properly addressed. For a hotel at this price point, the standard of cleanliness and upkeep was below expectations. On top of that, I discovered after checking out — only when reviewing my credit card statement a few days later — that I had been charged more than the agreed price. Having to find this out myself, rather than being notified by the hotel, felt like a lack of transparency. When I contacted the hotel to resolve the overcharge, the refund took nearly three weeks to come through. For a luxury property, I would expect billing errors to be corrected promptly and proactively. Overall, the combination of ageing facilities, cleanliness concerns, and a slow billing resolution has made me hesitant to return. I hope the management takes these points seriously, as guests deserve both a well-maintained environment and confidence that they are being charged correctly.
