Great location
Paid for 2 double rooms, we went up to our rooms and they were two twin rooms. Went downstairs to reception to be told they would send someone in to push the beds together. This would not have bothered me if twin and double rooms were the same rate, however I paid extra for double rooms. I could have booked the twin rooms and pushed the beds together myself without the extra 30 pounds. Secondly there were a pair of what I can only describe as kinky gloves in the room, and sequins on the bathroom floor, previous occupants clearly had a good time, but how was this missed when cleaning? Thirdly, I asked the man at reception for advice on parking. Fair enough, he didn't know the answer, but it was how he responded. Customer service is lacking. The above reasons are why I didn't go and tackle my issues with reception, I was on holiday and did not want to be made to feel like I was causing problems. Yes the hotel is quite cheap, but I wouldn't say value for money. The least I expect for my money is a clean room, and the rooms I paid for, and for people working in this industry... Good customer service should come for free. Very tired old looking building which I would have set aside if I didn't have any other issues. Breakfast was OK but I'd reccomend going down the wetherspoons round the corner, you get much more for your money, literally one of everything on your plate. I wouldn't recommend there are probably cheaper places with friendlier staff.

Lovely comfy beds. Amazing pillows and for for a cheap last minute get away
Shower did go everywhere and could do with a little update but overall it was a lovely night there

The host was welcoming and the property was locked at all times so I felt confident no one could just walk in. The location was excellent and it was only a 7 minute walk to Coral Island. The beds were comfy.
There wasn’t a charger near the bed so it’s best to bring a long charger if needed, but the beds were on wheels so I moved the bed to the charger (think smarter not harder!). There was no soap in the bathroom so bring your own and it could’ve been a bit cleaner but for the price I can’t really complain :)

I love everything about this hotel. The staff are friendly and welcoming and as I stay here frequently they remember me
The only slight issue I had was the shower was constantly cold and wouldn't warm up so I had to have sunk washes most of the time

As someone that has stayed in Blackpool many times, I understand the resort. Most hotels are in need of modernisation and en-suite facilities are usually cramped. I found the Oak Lea pleasantly surprising. Yes it can be improved, but the owners clearly care about their hotel and their guests. It's location was perfect for my requirements. Each interaction with the staff was very friendly, without being overbearing. A blown light bulb was replaced within two hours of it being reported. The room was very clean and tidy, hot water was quick to arrive for a second floor room and more than sufficient for a shower. Room service was daily but unobtrusive. Bar facilities (with entertainment) were impressive for a hotel of this size. I did not have any food but the kitchen looked reasonably spacious.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend to anyone that doesn't have insane expectations. It is a good sign when you want to stay longer and I would not hesitate to consider a return visit.
I really struggled to think of anything to put here, until my case broke on the way back to the station and I missed my train!

Great location
We enjoyed our stay in Blackpool as we were celebrating my mams birthday. Although the hotel is in an ideal location for us it is very dated and needs a lot of work to bring it up to date. It has a lift to all 3 floors which is ideal for my mam as she cant manage stairs but there was still a few stairs that she had to negotiate to get to our room. There was water coming down the wall in our room from the rain fall on the Friday night. The beds were clean and comfortable but that's the only positive. We were just room only and used the little cafe at the top of the street for our breakfasts which was lovely and hearing from the other guest in the hotel how disappointed they were with the breakfast I'm glad we did. We only used the hotel to sleep in so can't comment on the other facilities. The location was ideal for us but for what we paid for room only it was certainly well over priced. unfortunately we won't be staying at this hotel again.

Idea location , friendly staff, lovely night porter..rooms clean and comfortable it is basic rooms, dated but good condition plenty of tea and coffee in your room .. everything that you need , nothing to much trouble if you ask !
Cheap sausages bit stingy with a quarter piece of tomato on your breakfast I could of laughed least expect half no fresh fried cooked eggs with runny yoke as they poached and put in bay Marie to keep warm so are hard yoke .. convenience for the cook I'd say bit lazy if other b and bs manage to do it for the same amount of ppl in residence don't know why they can't! Cheap ingredients I know we are in cost of living and hotels are struggling but sometimes making sauce and effort is cheaper than buying jars of awful tasting stuff you'll get more customers if you provide home made food that taste of something not just lazy effortless jars and tins of carrot etc fresh veg on Sunday lunch homemade Yorkshire pudfings cost nothing or on a shepards pie plus it can be less expensive too if you look into it most the time ppl look forward to not cooking and rave about food at hotels if its nice it encourages other ppl to book and re book especially the older generation !

The Oak Lea is a very friendly hotel where the owners go out of their way to ensure their guests are looked after. I have stayed here a few times now and it's comfortable, clean and very friendly. It is also ideally situated to get around. Entertainment is provided nightly and is very entertaining. Food is always hot and delicious.
