An amazing stay in a traditional ryokan, a wonderful experience for us and our children. The lady who served our dinner in particular was delightful. The food was amazing, and bathing a great experience.

Booking for private bathing was limited to two timeslots and the ryokan has a strict “no swimsuit” policy which for us, travelling as a western family of 5 with teenagers who (understandably) did not want to bathe with their parents made that part of the experience difficult to access. Eventually the staff relented and gave us an extra private bathing timeslot and our teenage sons were able to enjoy the onsen, but something to be aware of for family groups who are booking because of the private bathing option.

A very special experience. We stayed one night, had the kaiseki dinner and bathed in both public and private onsens. Very memorable stay that made us feel privileged in a very traditional Japanese way.

The location is hard to reach if you travel by public transport. We were lucky to have been helped by the staff to get to the train, alternatively consider taxi from / to the local train station.

A traditional Japanese-style hospitality experience—truly authentic. The rooms, meals, and service were excellent. We chose half-board—dinner and breakfast—all in a traditional Japanese style; it was unusual, but definitely worth the money. The onsen's natural spring waters are pleasant and warm—especially during the cold season.

We used only the private onsen; it required a reservation and was limited to a very short time (up to half an hour), though other options were available. It was a small private onsen, but it delivered the full experience.

It’s a traditional location if that is something you are seeking. Pretty house I suppose.

It felt very awkward and the food only looked pretty. Taste was not. The rooms were a bit cold, although they had mini splits in each room. No restaurants or stores readily available. You have to ask for a ride to the train station to get anywhere, and that gets old very quick. For the price I paid for one night, it was definitely not worth it.
