Butler House

The view and the gardens. The continental breakfast in the tea room was wonderful. The size of the rooms. Staff was fabulous

Bathroom showing its age. Carpets were stained in rooms.

beautiful hotel, gardens are exceptional. Breakfast was delightful as well

The elevator needs updating - it was so slow I thought it wasn't going to make it up! Also, the artwork in the stairwell does not align with the elegance of the rest of the property. It was very modern and off putting from the rest of the property.

We absolutely loved our stay at Butler House. The spacious rooms were a real highlight, with a wonderful historical character that made the hotel feel special and very connected to Kilkenny’s heritage. Breakfast was another standout — easily one of the highlights of our stay. The quality and overall experience made it something we genuinely looked forward to each morning. The gardens at the back of the property were beautiful and provided a lovely, peaceful space to relax. The location was also excellent, with easy access to both Kilkenny Castle and the town center. We could walk everywhere, which made exploring Kilkenny incredibly convenient. Overall, Butler House gave us the combination we were looking for: beautiful historic character, spacious accommodations, a memorable breakfast, lovely grounds, and an outstanding location. It was a great fit for our family and made our time in Kilkenny feel special.

The one downside was that the rooms could get a little warm, and we found ourselves needing to open the windows to bring in cooler air. Given the generous size of the rooms, having additional fans available would have been a nice touch and would have made the rooms more comfortable.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. Location was good. Appreciated the parking on site. Outdoor garden area was very nice.

Furnishings were tacky, old, cheap , uncomfortable and outdated. Carpeting very old; chairs in room old and uncomfortable. Minimal furnishings for size of room. No surfaces to put things on ; just one small luggage rack. Bathroom old and no counter space, needs modernization. Lobby area uninviting.
