If you are looking for a restful get away with the phone not ringing this is the place for you. At&t and cspire both have no service at this location, but for a group of over worked adults this was a major plus in our book. The cabin does come equip with a land line, for local calls, in case of an emergency. The number of the owners are also posted. We enjoyed a swim in the lake off the pier and even rented a boat and tube from a local it was a great experience. (Pro tip, the lake doesn't allow any open containers on boats so be aware of that) The cabin was very tidy and clean, the only complaint we would have on the cabin would be the beds. Now, I love a good DIY but the stability of the bed frames where lacking. They could use some attention; I also wish the mattresses were newer. Other than that one aspect everything was five stars across the board. Thank you for letting us enjoy your little slice of paradise.

If I could leave negative stars, I would. I don't even know where to start. We rented the house on the lake for 3 days. After staying two, my wife said she couldn't take it anymore and we had to leave. There is no way to paint a picture of how nasty the inside of this place is. The coffee pot is broke and taste like vinegar, cobwebs hanging over the shower. The cobwebs were so big I think they've been there since May. Pubic hair in the bathroom, long strands of hair in the refrigerator. There's a large deposit. The owners give you a list of things you have to do before you check out. Normal things like strip the sheets off the bed, take the trash out but it goes on and on from there. You must sweep the floor or we will keep your deposit. You must turn the AC down or we will keep your deposit. All dishes must be in the dishwasher and running or we will keep your deposit. If you bring too many cars, you lose your deposit. It reminds me of the apartment you rented in college knowing you weren't getting your deposit back. Now let's talk about the sleeping arrangements. The mattresses on the three beds that are there have to be from 1982. You can feel the springs poking through it. The cookware there is from the 1960s and has never been updated. This is obviously a cash cow write off for the owners. No money has ever gone back into it and I will really be surprised if we get our deposit back. My wife cleaned it and it's in better shape when we left than it was when we got there. Don't walk on the bare floors in your sock feet, you'll be disgusted. The only thing positive I can say about this is we had a roof over our head. Other than that I've been in horse barnes with dirt floors that are cleaner. As I mentioned before, my wife was so grossed out we left a day early. After mentioning this to the owners they said thank you we'll let an exterminator know. There's too many other options on Smith Lake. We chose wrong. Don't do the same.7

We were fortunate to have booked the house at the last minute during Thanksgiving. We loved the location on the lake, the water, rock outcroppings, and foliage from the deck were amazing! The view from the back deck is amazing! I sat each morning on the back porch watching the birds & squirrels play and the fish jump. The lake is wide, deep and very quiet. The bedrooms are big enough for a comfortable weeks stay. The kitchen is well stocked. IF you read all the instructions then you know to bring extra towels, tissue & garbage bags...we did and all is well. If you don't want to pack that stuff the dollar general is a few miles down the road. The circular drive is paved however, one side is a Straight Drop 10yards down to the house...my husband was comfortable parking the truck down there but my GT Mustang stayed at the top of the hill (my husband drove it down to the house to unload it but I never drove it back down there after leaving for stuff). We give this house a 4.8 out of 5 stars Clean, nice view, quiet, quick response, as stated, etc...

This location was better than expected. We came on a couples trip with our jet skis. If you go left from the private boat dock, there is lots of smooth water and beautiful scenery. If you go right, there are several beautiful rocks and the Clear Creek Recreation Area boat ramp a few minutes from the dock. We explored near the Duncan Marina. The water near the house was clean and fun to swim in. The neighbors were having a family gathering and it was a good safe area to be in. Upon arrival, the driveway is very very steep so we did have to back down into it. Check in was easy. 2 queens were upstairs along with a small living room, bathroom, porch, and 2 twins in the entrance. Downstairs was the kitchen a living room with a full size bedroom and bathroom. The downstairs porch overlooking the lake had two tables and a grill to enjoy. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean and nicer than expected. The hosts were quick to respond to questions we had prior to our stay. Walmart is about 15 min drive. The gas station we found was about a 6 min drive. Sakura Japanese in Jasper was delicious and there were many other chain restaurants located within a 12-15 min drive. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again due to the affordability and location.

Place needed to be cleaned towels had stains and cobb webs everywhere. There was no service at all.

This property had a beautiful view. No wifi but we knew that going in and it was welcomed by my family to unplug a little (you could send a text in some locations of the property). We had a nice time with family here. My only disappointments were that they said we would have a roll of toilet paper in each bath room but they were small rolls one and half gone. This doesn't seem like a big deal until you need to find a store to get more.. an extra roll per bathroom would have been nice.. also bring your own trash bags.. they gave us only one. Which was also told to us ahead of time.. it said 1-2 trash bags to be provided so technically we received what we were told.... But a couple more trash bags would have been nice. The wash cloths were very bad. They were old, thin,and very stained. One looked like it had been used and just place back in the cabinet it was still damp. One towel had mold on it. The linens and bed spreads were old but not torn or stained that I could see. The stove is smaller than a regular stove but it works well. Those were our only disappointments. I can't say I wasn't warned about the toilet paper they did say that they would only provide one roll per bathroom but I thought the rolls would be regular size. I would like to end the review on a good note by saying the stars at night were amazing and the water was so pretty.
