Wester Muirhouse

Very comfortable and spacious, with lots of things to do: books, PS2 games, videos, and thoughtful touches such as spare chargers. Breakfast supplies were very generous! A great location ideal for walking. Wish we were there for longer than a night! Erich opened up the annexe for us, told us where everything was, and recommended a great local takeaway when he heard we hadn't eaten. Couldn't have been more helpful or friendly! Thank you.

Not a 'didn't like' but a suggestion: it might be better to move the 'proper' Smart TV with apps from the main bedroom to the lounge, as we couldn't watch anything other than live channels on the main TV (suspect it's too old for Java updates; we could go to iPlayer via the browser, but not play any programmes) - we had to all gather on the bed to catch up with Celebrity Traitors 🤣 One of the beds was dirty when we pulled the covers back, but the others were *immaculate*, so I'm guessing the bed had been unexpectedly used by a guest who didn't signal they'd used it by pulling the covers back. Sorted it ourselves by taking bedding from another bed - *convinced this is not the owners fault, as everything else was super clean.*

Our stay with Nicola and Eric at their beautiful property was absolutely wonderful. The accommodation was clean with all the creature comforts of home. Spacious and well equipped with breakfast goodies supplied it was a pleasure to stay there. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts who even drove us into town the couple of times we needed to go. Thanks again guys for a wonderful couple of days.

I can’t say a bad thing about the property or our stay.

The place was lovely and comfortable and was presented excactly as depicted in the photos on the website. While it is a little out of the way, we really enjoyed the peace and quiet on an evening and through the night, and waking to a wonderful view from the bedroom window across the fields to nearby Linlithgow. On all of our visits to Scotland, breakfasts have been a deliciously ample start to the day and this was no exception as we were provided with eggs, bacon, bread, butter, jams, cereal, milk, orange juice, Muller corner yoghurts, and chocolate brioche. We also really appreciated the pod coffee machine and selection of coffees. The hot water boiler doesn't mess about, immediately providing incredibly hot water whenever we needed it for showers, washing up, etc. Communication with the hosts was excellent with Erich providing detailed instructions on getting there and getting in, and it was lovely to have a chat with them both before we left. Bonus points for having a cute dog! We were only there for two nights to attend a wedding, but would very happily have stayed for longer and will be looking to next time we return to the area.

I'm a tall guy (6'3") and on the first morning I really smashed my head on the sloped ceiling above the master bed, hurting my neck and leaving me with a headache for the rest of the day. My partner (5'5") had no such issue, so tall guys be careful getting out of bed! The only other thing I could fault was a lack of brown sugar for my coffee (they only had white sugar) and black pepper for my bacon & eggs, neither of which are deal breakers.

Lovely location close to towns but quiet with far reaching views

It was very cold indoors with insufficient heating. The owner did his best to provide extra heaters but it really wasn’t very comfortable. Masses of glass in the living area with no curtains or blinds. Cutlery kept breaking. Extractor fan in kitchenette not working.
