We chose this place as it was in easy walking distance of the Parc Naturale do Rio Formosa. Great afternoon was spent there, very interesting bird life and great coastal views. We were met by the owner a charming man who we realised was French so if French is your language come here. A very interesting property, stacked full of furniture that could have come from a wonderfully elegant Paris apartment. (Maybe it did). easy to find the house is at the very end of Cidade de Paris. No breakfast but we had an early start to the Airport, very easy and quick journey.

The Ocean Oasis “Residence Suites” were unexpectedly in a couple’s home! They‘d just finished converting rooms in their large, beautiful, 5-bedroom home into “suites.” Ours (#2, I think) consisted of a bedroom, bathroom & kitchen, all of which were nice-sized and well-furnished. The home also had a large and lovely back yard, w/ a salt-water pool, complete w/ lounge chairs, umbrellas, etc. And, the yard backed up to, & even had a gate that opened into, the huge, protected “Nature Park of Ria Formosa.” We wished we’d been able to stay longer so we could hike in the park & relax by/in the pool. The husband & wife owners were very nice & helpful. They even invited us to join them for after-dinner wine & snacks in theIr back yard, along w/ another couple that was staying there, and this was an absolutely wonderful experience. Finally, while there were downsides to this (see below), upon our arrival, the husband even drove us around and gave us a tour of the town, which was very nice of him.

As noted above, the suite was very nice, but there was a notable exception - the bed was very uncomfortable & should be replaced. There were only two other notable downsides to this accommodation. One was that it’s not w/in walking distance to the main waterfront restaurant/shop area of Olhão. But...it’s relatively close and one can readily drive or Uber there. Second, the owners were actually a bit too enthusiastic, perhaps because they’d just opened 2 wks before our stay. They were understandably proud of their new “Residence Suites” & their town. So...upon our arrival, they gave us a tour of their home...and then the husband insisted on driving us around to give us a tour of the town. As noted above, this was a very nice thing for him to do. However, we were never given a chance to first get settled in our room or get cleaned up from our travels. Also, he drove a bit too fast and it was hard to communicate with him, as he spoke little English and we spoke little Portuguese or French. Thus, with respect to the last point, we didn’t always know what he was trying to show/tell us. Also, later in the tour, it took a long time for us to communicate that we wanted to be dropped off at one of the good restaurants he kept pointing out, so we could have dinner...as it got progressively later and we got progressively hungrier. Importantly, this was a very nice accommodation...and just a small number of relatively small changes would make it an excellent one (i.e., a new, comfortable bed; some modifications to the town tour - specifically, a chance to settle in & clean up first, slowing down, & bringing the wife along, as she spoke English).

The staff were super hospitable. We arrived with kids and the rooms were ready before check in. Kids swam in a salt water pool which was very clean and beautifull. Our hosts offered us wine and snaks as part of the stay. We drank local wine and trully felt at home.

We loved our stay.
