Toilet handle broken couldn’t flush it without several tries. Had booked well in advance but was given an adjoining room which was noisy and felt unsafe. Shower leaked under fixed screen to where you sat on the toilet. The bar snacks offered were minimal because of running out

We will located on the first floor and our view was onto a far escape so not very nice room was okay but not as described in pictures with cushions and bed runners very basic

Convenient location.

Booked a double bed only to be given 2 singles and told it was fully booked so they couldn’t fix it. Was extremely loud at night in the hallway with people yelling. Was woken up in the morning by the next door neighbours tv as the door between us was the only thing separating.

Breakfast was not the standard you would expect. Cleanliness of plates and glasses for breakfast was poor.

Lady at reception was very helpful. Literally walk outside hotel and you are at the shops and bars and restaurants.

We were told the first morning that they would get us fried eggs when we asked. The staff member did not return with said eggs so we had scrambled. The next morning we were advised by another staff member that they did not ever serve friend eggs. We stood waiting for 10 minutes the first morning so that was very annoying and a waste of time

Location was very conviennent. Breakfast was lovely and manager overseeing was helpful.

Lots staff were unpleasant and cold. Lady who checked us in felt patronising. Another staff member tutted us when we had trouble with the lift. Bathroom was mouldy. Floor around toilet was dusty / dirty. Pillows were stained.

Shower not very clean , pubic hairs on shower tray, door frame to toilet black and rotting. Soap scum on chrome, very weird smell like cat urine in room. The worst was the bed , mattress was wonky and the springs were definitely gone and noisy, we ended up checking out a night earlier, as after two nights on the mattress, back was in agony. Did ask for another room but they didn’t have one , so asked for a refund and they said we had to go through booking.com, which we have had no reply as of yet. UPDATE: booking.com have replied very quickly and efficiently, (very nice friendly man on phone) and will let us know in due course about a refund (up to 5 days) as currently they are in touch with holiday inn, trying to sort out a resolution with them.

Clean comfortable room, good bed and nice shower. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice.

We stay the same time every year it was nice stay but it had gone up £50 extra for the night which we thought was daylight robbery but staff were all lovely and friendly Normally we have a couple of biscuits in the room but that had been cut back with the coffee and tea But location is excellent

Where do I start. Window that did not shut, had maintenance look at it and they admitted part of locking system has snapped off and needs replacing, 2 loose screws on air con controller, mould around shower, rotten and crumpling door frames, dust all over the walls, asked to be moved and said no other rooms. Cold breakfast food which was a poor selection, Apple juice that had been watered down, complained at time and they said nothing could be done

Good location: near station, near ferry terminal, near shopping centre and restaurants.

Booked via Booking.com; wanted to tell hotel specifically to give a wider room as I was travelling with my elderly mother, but they were not contactable. Called IHG helpline and spoke to Anisha, Mary and others at different times but they all said hotel reception was not contactable. I checked in and was given 3rd floor but 3rd floor lift was not working. Hotel customer service informed me after we checked via email that rooms given subject to availability, blah, blah. Room bathroom had spots because of poor maintenance but it was clean. What I did not like at all was the exploitation of staff. Staff were young and extremely hardworking. They were less on ground. So in the evening they did everything- reception handling, phone calls and cleaning. One guy called Henry worked all of Sunday, Monday morning and Tuesday morning. I overheard staff saying that he had to sleepover because there was staff shortage. If there is staff shortage then why give out all the rooms? I felt very sorry for the staff. Young people are increasingly being exploited in the cost of living crisis. I heard other hotel residents complaining of things like poor access for wheelchair users etc.
