We had a wonderful time at El Faro. It was so close to everything, and right on a beach! There’s a nice restaurant/bar that has great food and drinks, right next to this place. Super easy walk to anything you could want! No need for car. We came to Playa Del Carmen first, then to Cozumel and lastly Isle Mujeres. We loved all the places but our family voted PDC our #1 due to convenience and tons of things to do. The place itself was great. Awesome pool, beach….the staff was SUPER. And I mean SUPER FANTASTIC. Try it for yourself I’m sure you’ll love it too. Thanks so much for the memories.

The location was perfect...on the beach and only 2 blocks to 5th ave. The actual view was even better than the pictures. The beach bar next door was the start of every evening for us. We plan to stay there again.

The grounds of this property are so well kept! The pool, beach and common areas were clean and beautiful! You can’t beat the location - 1 block from 5th Avenue & walking distance to ferry & bus. The room was good…It could definitely have been cleaned better. There were chips/cheese balls on the floor by the fridge, and on day 1 I spilled a little water and when I went to wipe it up with a paper towel, it was brown/dirty. The unit is definitely in need of updating. Bedding/sheets/pillows are old, utensils need to be replaced. Headboard in 2nd bedroom is falling apart. A/C in primary room did not work well; was more like a fan (no cold air like the others) and the primary room had a smell of mildew from day 1. Also, suggest the owners leave a broom and mop (cleaning supplies) of some kind so renters can clean as needed as we were there for 6 nights and the unit does not provide any housekeeping until after a full week. Due to the humidity, the marble floors get wet and slippery and it would be nice to mop them up, as well as clean on the regular. Plan to do laundry if you’re staying a long time so you can clean towels as there’s not room service until after a full week as mentioned above. It’s really easy as the laundry room is just downstairs. View from balcony cannot be beat! Gorgeous sunrises and views of the moon over the water at night. Overall, not a bad unit to stay in but I would not say it’s 5 stars. Regardless, we had the best time in PDC!

El Faro Residences is located so close to 5th Ave and other beach bars & restaurants. We were in the heart of everything & could walk everywhere. Our unit was exactly as described. There was a race each morning to get a pool chair, however we always seemed to find what we needed. I would recommend El Faro as a safe & well appointed place to stay in Playa del Carmen.

This property was in a great location! Just off 5th and right on the beach! We stayed with another couple and this was a perfect home base for us. Great view of the sunrise every morning, from the deck, which over looks the pool and the ocean. The cleaning prior to our arrival could have been better. The second bedroom headboard needs to be replaced, we provided that info to the property manager, so I'll assume they'll take care of that (although not during our stay). Other than that, the place was perfect. The layout was great in the Condo (bedrooms separated by bathrooms). Would have been nice for the second bed to be a King or Queen as well (but we knew it was a double when we booked). There were usually loungers available by the pool or beach. The beach was rough most days but if you can get in the sand is gorgeous and it's shallow enough to walk far out. The Circle K store just by the front entrance actually has cheap prices for beer (shout out to Dennis from Kelowna who stays most of the year for all his tips). Massage available poolside and it's well worth it. They have a price list of options. (Thanks Maria!!) We had lots of drinking water supplied and we would definitely book again!

The location of the building is fantastic. Half a block to 5th avenue where all the restaurants and shops are located. There are security guards at the entrance to the building as well as around the grounds and at the beach - so you always feel safe. The condo has everything you need along with a spectacular view to watch the sunrise each day. Great pool...we are looking forward to returning.

Very nice, clean, and comfortable property on the beach! My family and I enjoyed our time here. The layout of the apartment was a little smaller than I thought it would be, but still very nice. Beware of street vendors who see you are wearing the El Faro yellow bracelet. They will try to tell you they met you there at the reception desk. Maybe El Faro will get rid of the bracelets like some of the all-inclusive resorts are doing in the future. Otherwise I definitely recommend this place!

The condo is very clean, great layout. Bedrooms are separated so lots of privacy. Bathrooms are spacious and super comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed and the living room is laid out very well. WiFi works perfect! They provide 5-gal bottled water so no need to stock up with water. The property is also very clean with awesome security. There are guards day/night located at the pool to keep non-residence out of the property. My girlfriend and I felt very safe. Washer & dryer are on the 1st floor, 3 of each. You must get tokens from the front desk (60 pesos per w/d). I found the property very quiet which we liked. This unit was located on the south side of the property (less street noise). The towels are nice, newer and so are the beach towels. AC units in both bedrooms & living room.Could Improve:The master bed mattress is not that comfortable. In addition, the bottom sheet is not a fitted sheet... just a top sheet used as a bottom sheet. I didn't find the pillows comfortable either... rather hard. Mattresses and pillows are a personal thing... hard to please. They don't provide any spices nor salt & pepper. I'm sure people like me leave them behind but I'm certain the housekeepers take them home. Mega Foods does not salt & pepper shakers... bring your own if it's important. The TV's are smaller... not an issue for us since we didn't turn them on. Buy your own paper towel... the kind they provide is really cheap. The property provides lounge chairs at the pool but at least 35-40% of the chairs have torn webbing so you feel the support rods on your back as you lay down. Since we were there the 1st week of Dec, the pool wasn't super busy but if we came during the winter/spring, we would have had to lay out on the pool deck instead of the worn out pool chairs. Other notes:We rented a car at the airport but returned it early. Cab to the airport was $700 pesos ($35 dollars) and for day trips, we used Budget ($70 us dollars per day, full coverage) & the Budget office is really close. The Gym.com.mx is a great fitness center & is only 3 blocks away. $75 us dollars for 10 visits. Yoga was just a few blocks too. Mega has better food, produce, meats than Walmart. The massage gals located at the pool did a bait & switch... not cool.

This property was exactly as pictured. Pristine condition. Excellent location. It is a place to relax by the pool and ocean all day or go out and see the sights. With fun 5th Avenue literally a 2 minute walk away, same for the cab stands, you could venture around the corner or go further with ease. The amenities made staying “home” on certain days a great option too. We made pitchers of margaritas and brought them down to the pool. There are grocery stores nearby or you can arrange to have concierge service stock your cupboards before you arrive. I did both. Travelled with my best friend for a girls trip and we felt spoiled! I got a beautiful welcome basket as well. Very nice touch. The property was always clean and there was security patrolling at night. This is a well run condominium and I couldn’t have asked for anything else. Well, maybe to stay longer next time! I was sad when my week was over and I had to go home!

My family and I had an awesome time during our stay at El Faro Reef room 204. The air-conditioning worked great and there was plenty of hot water for our family of 5 to shower one after the other. The staff were very polite and attentive. The only small issue we had was that the sliding glass doors were difficult to open and close. When we brought this up to the manager and were told it was due to settling of the building and they were unable to fix.

we stayed for 7 days with a family of 6. Very comfortable, nice kitchen, balcony overlooks the pool. Near taxi, colectivos, great restaurants. El Faro staff was very responsive to any questions.

We stayed at El Faro condos from 2/27/2017-3/5/2017, room Reef 204, and had a fabulous time. I read many reviews before our stay and had a few concerns but there is absolutely nothing to be concerned about. Walmart was literally right up the street, just a short 7 minute walk and they have everything: groceries, swim gear, sunscreen, alcohol and everything else your Walmart has at home. The view from our room was outstanding, the pool was enjoyable, the fairy to Cozumel is a very short walk and only $8 round trip. We look forward to coming to Playa del Carmen in the future and can only hope to stay at the El Faro property.

This was such a great place to stay for our vacation! It is in the heart of Playa Del Carmen and within walking distance to everything. It is a beautiful condo and the grounds are extremely well kept. All the staff were courteous, friendly and very helpful. Even though it was right at the center of all the action it was surprisingly quiet and calm. I will stay here again for sure!

I don't give 5 star ratings -- just hard to call something perfect. Well I have met my match. After having two different friends (that don't know each other) tell me if I go to Playa, we have to stay at this place, we went and we had a great time. The facilities are awesome. Love the fact that you can be at the ocean, without all the vendors yelling at you. Private, yet right there on the ocean!
