Reviewer Comments: bottom line I would stay there again but... there were some issues with accommodations. recently done renovations especially appliances corners were cut. fridge broke while we were there, dishwashers sounds like the door was going to fall off, washer and dryer recently replaced with used machine and old machine left behind by the shower and sliding screen door also not working. property manager was very responsive to concerns and was willing to come and fix or replace things on the Friday which was our last full day. asked them to wait until the Saturday when we were checked out which they did. I imagine that these issues were addressed before the next renter arrived. Deck (porch) to sip wine or enjoy meals on the deck facing ocean (furniture shown was not there and only place to eat outside was on the picnic table on uneven terrain). it would be nice if the owner provided some chaise lounges to enjoy the outdoors but only had old dated furnishing.

The biggest one was that the washer and dryer did not work upon our arrival. Secondly, there were ants and they liked the kitchen and any food that you might leave on the counter. Neither of these issues were deal breakers for us, although it sure would have been nice to have had a working washer and dryer because we had traveled light in reliance on their availability. In any event, we had a super time and really enjoyed the place. We would definitely book this cottage again.

The home was quite clean and had all of the basics provided! A nearby walking/biking path was a perfect way to get into town, or just sightsee, as it went through a bird preserve as well. We could not have loved it more!! The view was amazing! The house was VERY clean on arrival! We had to stock up on some groceries, like salt and pepper, cooking spray...but everything else "basic" was there. It honestly was the exact type of getaway we were looking for...calm, relaxing, beautiful views! There is an amazing walking/bike path right behind the property where you can walk for HOURS and it was perfect!

I needed to come to the Cape for work. I traveled with my 1-year old and nanny. This was the perfect out-of-season spot. My son took his first steps here this week, clearly feeling safe and secure with his surroundings. The quiet atmosphere of this beautifully lit cottage was the perfect setting for day naps and quiet evenings. I loved coming back to this place after a day of working-to my baby and the beautiful, serene views this cottage offered us. Loved every minute of being here. Thanks for the memory!

I was looking for a very quiet place at the beginning of April, on the water in Woods Hole, where I could relax by myself for a couple of days, and unplug. The light-filled cottage on Fay Road was perfect. It had a feeling of what “old” Cape Cod had been like . . . I’ve been around long enough to know! Next door was a 1920s shingle-style house, with 10 bedrooms, that must have seen many generations enjoying Cape summers on the beach in the front yard. The dirt road into this private, out-of-the-way neighborhood, is a little rugged, but that insures privacy. In the mornings, I sat at the rustic table in the dining area in the cottage, sometimes before dawn, sipping coffee, in front of the large picture window, looking out on Vineyard Sound, and Martha’s Vineyard, a short distance away. In the afternoons, I’d walk on the beach, or sit in an Adirondack chair, on the lawn slopping down to the beach, catching up on my reading. The cottage was immaculate, the kitchen, with a large window facing the beach, was well stocked with dishes and utensils. On a very windy, rainy day, with the sound of heavy surf and rain beating against the windows, I curled up on the couch in the living room, lazily listening to music, dozing, and reading. One note of caution: it is a high step-up into the bath tub, but there is a very convenient grab bar on the wall to hold on to. Woods Hole is only a five-minute drive away, with its cozy coffee shops and good restaurants, and Main Street Falmouth, with lots of restaurants and shops, about 10 minutes. I’ll return here again for a private escape, out of season.

Small Cottage is a gem. A Frisbee's throw from the water with great views and bathing. The neighborhood is really fine. Both Wood's Hole and Falmouth are just a jump away with splendid dining opportunities. Hated to leave.

Perfect location! The view out the kitchen and bay window was amazing. It is located directly on the bike path which has access to Woods Hole and Falmouth. The beach was beautiful. We hope to be back to visit soon!

We had a wonderful stay at Small Cottage! It is a true treasure. Surrounded by homes five times its size, this charming property is snuggled into one of the most enviable lots on Woods Hole. A yard for playing, a beach for strolling, a hammock for dreaming, and a bike path for adventuring... It's all we could have wanted. It was a weekend full of celebration and there seemed to be a buzz in the air. It was one of the last warm weekends before fall's cooler air set in, and Quicks Hole Taqueria was having an end of the season party complete with a band. The locals welcomed all to come say goodbye to the long, summer days with a toast and a promise to gather again next year. After singing along with the band and having a fantastic meal, we headed back to Small Cottage and were treated to a spectacular view of the super moon and eclipse. It's 33 years until that celestial event will happen again. I'm not sure we can even wait 33 days until we return to Small Cottage! It was the perfect backdrop for our family memories. Thank you again for sharing this treasure with us.

I can not say enough nice things about this cottage! We had the most amazing vacation here and didn't want to leave when it was over. The location is perfect for enjoying the beach while still being close to the adorable town of Woods Hole. Having the bike path so close was also a bonus. We rented bikes in Falmouth and really enjoyed riding into both Woods Hole and Falmouth for sightseeing. We rode the ferry to Martha's Vineyard which was also close and convenient to the house. The cottage was clean and contained plenty of towels, linens and kitchen cooking supplies. We had five adults and one toddler staying at the cottage, while it was a little tight for that number of people, we found it cozy and didn't mind at all! All in all, this was one of the best trips we have ever had and we look forward to returning again!

Beautiful view from this quaint small cottage in the perfect location. Rustic but comfortable place for our first visit to Cape Cod. The Shining Sea Bike Path was just steps from the home where we rode rented bikes every day--including biking to the ferry station for Martha's Vineyard, biking to the restaurants in Woods Hole, and also the town of Falmouth. Dad and daughter enjoyed fishing from the big rocks on the beach. Accomodations perfect for up to 4 people comfortably; we had 2 adults and 3 children--one a teenager, so a little tight on space, but manageable. The grassy yard on the side and in the back was a wonderful place for the kids to run around and decompress after a day's full of activities in town. We also tried the Adventure Park in Sandwich which the kids aged 7 through 14 loved! The adults even had a good time, although sore for the next two days! If venturing out to Sandwich, make sure to stop by "Ice Cream Sandwich" shop on the way back--best real homemade ice cream in multiple flavors we've had hands down, and we are self proclaimed ice cream conoisseurs. They even have lobster rolls, which were amazing and far better than the lobster rolls we had in town at Falmouth and Woods Hole. Thank you to the owners of Small Cottage in making our first Cape Cod visit a dream!

Small cottage is a beautiful place to vacation. I rented the beach house for my tenth wedding anniversary and it really is an adorable home in the perfect location. It was so relaxing to sit on the shore, enjoy our morning coffee and watch the ferries traveling to Martha's Vineyard. There's a bike path nearby, so we rode our bikes practically everywhere. We were so happy to find a place that was quiet and private but close to restaurants, shopping and things to do.

It's very rare that that the reality of a thing is better than what you imagine, but the little cottage certainly was. We walked the beautiful private beach at sunrise and later in the evening so beautiful. The fireplace was perfect for toasting marshmallows and the television was available for the ones who wanted it. We were a group of four women and amazingly we ALL enjoyed our stay and want to return. Lots of sightseeing available for those who need to keep moving and the local people are helpful and friendly. The history of the property is amazing for those who like history.

This cottage is practically perfect - like living in a postcard - the setting is unbelievable and it is beautifully maintained and well equipped for cooking. We were lucky to have four gorgeous October days to enjoy it. It was lovely and cozy for two of us but might feel a bit too cozy for 4-6 people if the weather were not perfect and you were all indoors. There is an alarmingly large TV in the living room, but we really enjoyed watching our DVDs on it in the evenings (there are four remotes, and an elaborate system, but no instructions - we figured it out after a lot of trial and error attempts). We LOVED this place and hope to come back next fall.
