Holiday Inn & Suites - Cairo Maadi by IHG

My stay at Holiday Inn Maadi was exceptional and exceeded my expectations. The hotel is modern and luxurious, with spacious, clean rooms that have all the necessary amenities. The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Especially Mahommed Ebrahim - he was helpful and willing to assist when requested. The security measures were commendable, as the driver was required to show identification and a copy of the trip route every time we left, providing reassurance in a new city. Definitely a 10/10 stay.

Sometimes you choose a hotel for entirely practical reasons and end up getting something rather spectacular. I chose the Holiday Inn & Suites because of its proximity to Maadi, which was going to be the base for my holiday in Egypt. What I hadn't quite appreciated was just how extraordinary the experience of staying there would be. I was fortunate enough to have a suite on a high floor, looking directly across the Nile towards Giza. And what a view. There are hotel views, and then there is looking out across one of the world's great rivers towards a place whose name has resonated through thousands of years of history. I never tired of it. The suite itself was superb, and the whole hotel has that wonderful feeling of being somewhere genuinely special while still being comfortable enough to relax and properly enjoy it. As a Scotsman who had travelled from Lagos to spend his summer in Egypt, there were moments when I simply stood at that window and thought about where in the world I actually was. The Nile below me. Giza across the water. Maadi waiting outside. I chose this hotel because of its location. I would return because of the experience. Absolutely spectacular.

I wish I had been spending more than one night in the uite as I was unable to take full advantage of its amazing facilities.

The hotel is beautiful and well presented. The cleaning inside the room was good.

Housekeeping woke us up in the morning just to ask whether we wanted our room cleaned. This disturbed our sleep. Although the room cleaning was good, shampoo and other bathroom supplies were not replaced when needed. Even a replacement toothbrush had to be requested by phone. These items should be checked and provided during cleaning without guests having to ask for everything. We stayed in room 2805 and were frequently disturbed by noise from the room next door. We complained and asked to move, but no other room was available, so we had to tolerate the noise. When we asked for help booking a regular taxi, we were told to find one on the street or book a limousine through the hotel. We only wanted a normal taxi, but the hotel had no taxi contact numbers available. Our room also had no balcony, which was disappointing because we wanted to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere. We expected more comfort and attention to these details from an international hotel.
