This unit is perfect for two people. Views from the balcony were amazing! We watched the whales for hours. So close to. The. Beaches, boat launch for diving, snorkeling and whale watching trips! Would come back!

The place was old, has probably not been updated since original build? 50 years ?. The bathroom very small, tiling cracked and chipped, no air conditioning, the bed was small ( just regular double bed) . Not a great place for cooking, very few dishes. No comfortable chairs to relax on in the living room. It was not cleaned very well. Fans, curtains, mirrors were very dirty. Sand in the unit. The price should have reflected the units value...it was way overpriced. It was a place to stay that did the job. No one was in the unit that long. The view was nice but not worth the price. Would recommend to someone knowing the condition it was in and hoping they weren’t expecting a lot from it.

We arrived 11:00pm at night. Easy instruction to get in the apartment but disappointing that there was no cold water in the fridge as we arrived late.The place is very outdated but that did not bother us. What bothered us is the fact that we rented the place for two weeks and there was only one roll of paper towel and two rolls of toilet paper. There were only for 4 loads supply for the washer/dryer and dishwasher. As I mentioned we stayed two weeks. Check out time was 10:00 am most places are 11:00 am

What we loved - 6th floor location - great views of whales in morning and sunset at night. Really nice balcony we enjoyed very much. Also the location is great. Beach across the street is GREAT for snorkling, swimming, body surfing, sun lounging. Sand really fine and soft. Also breakfast place on street and Moose's for easy restaurant access. This condo is a great deal. Sure it wasn't fancy, but bed was good, dishwasher, fridge, washer dryer all worked. Had things like rice cooker and coffee pot we used lots. Stove and microwave worked good. Shower old tile but clean, slightly damaged fixtures but they worked. NO AC but we didn't mind as nice breeze flows from bedroom to living room being on the 6th floor. We didn't expect anything fancy and it was not fancy but we did expect it to be functional and clean and for the most part it was. There were dust bunnies under the dressers we had to move due to item falling behind it, but no cockroaches, no stinky things. What we didn't like- 10am check out time sucks. It should be noon. Also pull out bed mattress needs replacing. TV's and cable were hard to figure out to be sure. We have stayed here before and know it is well kept property with good security, beautiful landscaping, good parking, great location, fantastic views from 6th floor. We love this place for the price we got it at it was the ONLY deal left on maui. Everything else in Hawaii has gone crazy in price including 150 resort fees at hotels for one night, and 9$ for a loaf of bread?!!! Taxes and resort fees, and restaurant and food prices have made Kihei VERY EXPENSIVE. Our Condo was a fair price and we really appreciate that. NOTHING ELSE IN HAWAII IS PRICED FAIRLY THESE DAYS, so we will probably go to Fiji next trip, but we could not complain about the condo. Pool bbq's are good, pools good, parking good. Easy to get to. There are nicer places around but for the price this place can not be beat as far as this cowboy is concerne

I've traveled to Maui for over 20 yrs and this condo has the best view I've ever seen! Your view from the lanai is from the West Maui Mtns all the way down to the hill by Big Beach! Spectacular for whale watching! The unit itself is a bit dated, but who goes on vacation for appliances?! Overall, everything was clean enough and functioned well. There's also a nice assortment of spices and a rice cooker, both of which are surprisingly rare in vacation rentals! The only drawback is the lanai could use a sunshade, as in the afternoon, the sun is shining directly on you. Hoping one will be added soon, along with a keypad entry (physical keys can be a nuisance on vacation!).I've stayed at different units in the Akahi, you cannot beat the location. Close to all the best beaches, and you can walk to all the nearby shops and restaurants. My friend and I liked it so much, we've already booked for next year :)

Over the last 15 -20 years we have stayed in many different units at Kihei Akahi. The loacation is perfect for us with the proximity to the KAMAOLE BEACHES, and we love the grounds. D604 was in the worst shape of any we have rented. The frontdoor fram is splintered, screws stripped out of doorknob and some hinges. It was a battle to get in the frontdoor everytime, until I pulled the screw out and just used the deadbolt. The cleaning fee has about doubled in the last 2 years, the place was not very clean. Sheets were very stained.Beach towels fraying, Everything so worn and tired. reminded me of my first apartment, nothing matched. The lanai is the best part of this unit. We called Hawaii Life, they referred us to the local host Lara. She was very apologetic and offered to line up repairs while we were on island. This was a very short trip for us, only 5 days. All 5 were precious to us, and declined that offer. Lara informed us that this unit is scheduled to be renovated later this summer. I would avoid this unit until then.
Lara was empathic and understanding of our situation. She is an asset to the company and the renter.
On a side note I emailed Hawaii Life and asked if this unit had beach gear (chairs, cooler). They responded that it did not. I rented a gear package from Aunties snorkel. There are chairs, umbrella and cooler in the closet, just saying.

Wonderful location…walking distance to some good food eateries, good beach just across the street….great amenities-3 boogie boards, beach chairs and beach umbrella. Two different sized coolers.
Great view from lanai as you have your morning coffee and papaya and pineapples. Also wonderful view of sunsets from the lanai. All in all, the perfect place…..

This property has a fantastic view and was appropriately priced for the fact it was a touch out dated. We have rented from VRBO and at this location multiple times and typically find them to be clean. Our most recent say the place was dirty, I consider this more of an anomaly then typical as we typically fine. Had a great time, would recommend this location

We had a mainly positive experience in Unit D604 at Kihei Akahi. The location is fantastic and the view from this top floor unit is incredible.This whole property is clean and well maintained. Unit D604 has everything needed for relaxing stay but is definitely in need of updating. We visited friends staying in other units and it is obvious that this unit hasn't had much changed since it was built.The patio door is hard to move and obviously needs new wheels installed. There were 2 old folding lawn chairs that need to be replaced as the webbing is rotten. The bedroom is very bright and could use curtains on the windows. These are items that that could easily be addressed.Overall, though, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return if these things were addressed.

NOISE
We,ve been 12 yrs in 4 different units at Kihue Akahi and will not be back. The battery powered yard tools help, but the truck back up beep-beep-beeps and car alarms are not acceptable. Maui and all of HI need to figure out a way for trucking companies and car rental companies to disconnect these obnoxious noise makers from their vehicles. Viva la Mexico.

This property has a fantastic view, the main reason I stay at this complex for the past 20 years. This was the first time I stayed in this condo. It provided every amenity you'd need in the kitchen, the bed was very comfortable, linens and towls were fine too. The property does nedd a good cleaning tho, and could use a few update. There is NO air conditioning in this unit, and the thin white drapery does little to block the full afternoon sun.... a pull down sun shade would help immensely. I would still recommend the condo for its view and location.

Everything was fabulous except for the toaster. You had to hold down the handle the whole time to toast the bread. The only other things would be maybe a third Tommy Bahama chair. The condo needs a little updating but very reasonable for the price!

the bed was so bad I sleep on the floor and the couch was no better but if they get new bed or couch I would rent this place again. Had real problem with internet and tv no net for 3or4 day the on call person call gave wrong pw and wasnt helpful want me to call the cable company that why I paid you guys for please real train her in customer service

We just finished staying for 30 days at Kihei Akahi. 9 days at D507 and 21 days at D604. For D507 I would not go back because the carpet is so dirty I wish we did not start our vacation there. In D604 it was really nice, clean and nice furniture. The coffee maker needed replaced and Patti the property manager responded and replaced the machine. The only complaint we have is the screen door on the lanai has many holes in it so the bugs at night were too many. We certainly would love to rent that unit again if possible. Next year we intend to stay 2 months so hopefully we can get a unit as nice as the D604

A nice clean unit. Good (far) views of the sea (bring binoculars for a better view of whales). Overall 4. General condition 4: as advertised, no AC: but the December weather was 17 to 25 C and often windy, so no need. Nicely equipped kitchen a bonus. Bed maybe older than usual in a hotel and softer than my preference, fold out sofa bed in front room could be suitable for another compatible 2. 2 nice pool areas. Shared BBQs (2 at each pool) kept excellently clean (Thanks!). A long walk 1 to 1.5 km for groceries and we didn't rent a car (though a parking spot is included) but the bus stops close and once each hour $2 each way. Laundry in unit. A few minutes walk to the nice beach and OK snorkeling. I'd recommend this to a friend.

Most everything is wildly over-priced in Maui but the condo where we stayed was an exception. It was not well-appointed except for the view of the ocean and mountains and the sounds of the songbirds greeting us in the morning, which is all you really need in a place like this for visitors like us who were out exploring most of the time and not there for the four walls. Do not be dissuaded by the lack of air conditioning because it is not necessary and you would want to let the fresh clean air flow through from one end of the space to the other even if you had AC. The kitchen was well equipped and we were very comfortable. The location is good - you return to a beach environment in Kihei after a full day of exploring the rest of the island. If you make it back in time, experience the sunset at one of the spots along the main drag. We had some issues (the electricity went out - as it did for most of the island - and our car was vandalized at a restaurant) but these things were not the fault of management and they were responsive to our concerns/issues. Comfortable, affordable, well positioned with views and sounds of nature on Maui. Nice.

This was the perfect condo...with an amazing view...almost 180 degree ocean view. Right across the street from a beautiful beach and super close to Waliea. The condo was super light with great breezes. Very clean. And beach chairs, a cooler and an umbrella which we took with us everywhere.
