It was a good weekend. Plenty of room

The house was stunning. So much character! The kitchen and restrooms were updated but the rest of the house seemed to be left untouched IN A GOOD WAY! Very charming. Beautiful chandeliers and staircase. Me, my husband and my son, along with 2 other families with their sons (9people altogether) enjoyed our stay at this home. Not car from downtown, KC Chiefs Arrowhead Stadium, and the KC Royals baseball stadium.

Gladstone property was perfect for all our friends to stay this past extended weekend!! We all attended the Mecum Auction at the KC Events Center and the property was very close to do a short drive. The house was very clean, well stock, comfortable and very accommodating. The owner was great to work with and available to us. A very beautiful home and we will definitely stay there again for next year’s trip!!

We absolutely love this house! So many things to admire, so much space. I never made it into the armoire, but I was hopeful Narnia was in there. Heating and cooling are splendid. Sound insulation was amazing. The home is beautiful. Ross and Angela were amazing and super friendly and helpful. Neighbors walking by with their dogs were super friendly. I’m big on porches and this one was wonderful. Plenty of room and seating for everyone we had. All bedrooms have king size beds. Neighborhood was quiet. There is a firehouse close, but they were kind enough to not start sirens until they hit the main road a couple of blocks away. Something new to admire around every corner. Amazing and so comfortable. The renovations are true to the time period it was built. Highly recommend!

This gorgeous mansion was home to my staff and me for a week during a conference in KC. The location was convenient and quiet. The house was incredible. Six adults and there was enough room for us to enjoy time together or have our solitude. Our musicians loved the baby grand and our cooks loved the kitchen. I honestly hated to leave this morning.

There was lots of room to accommodate our group. Plenty of room to visit, play games and put together puzzles. Enjoyed visiting J Rieger distillery which is located less than 5 minutes away. The only negative comment I heard from our group was limited wash clothes and hand towels.

In KC for a wedding. Perfect trip for 8 folks. House is amazing!!! Pics do not do it justice. Ross was great to work with and Angela, property manager was fantastic!!!!

Almost everything about the house was perfect!! There are 5 bedrooms, 2 rooms have queen beds and 3 rooms have king size beds. I personally could only find 2 pull out couches and the futon on the enclosed porch, which it was way too hot to sleep out there, but we made it work. We had 12 people but we slept 3 to a king bed. The king bed I slept on was really soft and old and we kept sinking into the middle. I think the other beds were better. Plenty of room for everyone in the house, in fact some of the kids got lost trying to find the kitchen! The location was perfect, but go a few blocks away and it was a little sketchy. Overall great experience! Beautiful very large home!!! Would definitely stay again!

We booked this mansion stay for our son’s wedding and it was everything we wanted and more. It was wonderful. We (14 of us) had plenty of room inside and a wonderful wrap around porch to congregate. Photo ops were plentiful.

We had a group of 8 guys, and this place was perfect. Tons of room, very cool, historic building. We were warned to avoid the nearby Independence Ave at night, so we did. This place was a great value for the cost.

Our friend group went to KCMO for a concert and this property was located very close to the venue.
This beautiful historic home is straight out of an old movie, I love the original wood trim and stunning ceilings. It's located in an historic district so the view outside is as cool as the inside.
The bathrooms have been modernized so there is plenty of bathing capacity for us all to shower in a short period of time.
Our stay was just a couple of days, and I now wish we had stayed longer so we could enjoy the common areas. We did enjoy the parlor, one of the group played the baby grand piano.
This pace beats a boring hotel hands down. We will definitely book this again next year when we come back.

An amazing older home, almost mansion by the architecture alone. Great property and a great value for the price. Loved it!

A trek through time staying along the old Millionaire’s row. The area is in transition after decades of apparent neglect, but we found it safe, convenient and incredibly charming. The property manager was on site and checked in to see if all went as planned. We loved it.

Property was a beautiful, historic mansion. The owner and property manager were so nice and introduced themselves. We rarely saw them unless we needed support. It’s an old building so there were little touches we needed to pay attention to, and the signs were so helpful in keeping us on track. Ample room for gatherings, cooking, and relaxation. We really enjoyed our stay, the history, and the food nearby.

We we’re in town for the sweet 16 and having a place where all of 5 of us could stay worked out awesome.

In her hay days, this grand house must have been really something. And although she’s seen better days, we loved our stay. Is it perfect? No! But we embraced it for what it was and we had a wonderful time. Kitchen had everything thing we needed and beds were fairly comfortable. Owner and manager were very accommodating. If you are familiar with 100 year old homes, you will not be surprised you have to wait for the hot water to arrive and you have to be careful flushing the toilets. But I emphasize everything worked. The kids were enthralled and there couldn’t be a better place to play hide and go seek! If you want fancy this is probably not for you. But if you want to feel the grandeur of a bygone age, you will enjoy this home. I felt the price was very reasonable. We felt safe there. Where else could 9 of us stay for this price. Thumbs up!

Had a great stay, and the Castle was very interesting. So glad we booked it, as we had plenty of room for the 5 couples that stayed.

We were very blessed to find this large comfortable historic mansion to celebrate a significant family event! Great weather for February so took a stroll around the neighborhood & enjoying lunch at a local establishment. The piano was the delight of several family members!!!

This house is perfect for a large group of people and it’s very cool. I loved the historic piece of it all. What I wasn’t a fan of was the location. I didn’t feel it was in a very good neighborhood and it wasn’t very clean. I understand it’s an older home
But the floors definitely weren’t clean and neither were the counter tops. All in all, I probably wouldn’t stay here again, but we did have a great time.

This house was a treat. Everyone was enjoying the experience. A rich history and interesting homes in this neighborhood. Very old homes have their creaks and warts. Easy to overcome any minor issues since the experience of staying here was a treat. Upgraded kitchen was very nice. Overall, we all were thrilled to experience this property. It really made the trip special.

Ross has done a wonderful job of restoring this beautiful mansion. We had the pleasure of visiting with him about the process and learned the interesting history of this historic house. His property manager, Angela, was so kind and was there for whatever we might have needed. We loved the time we had to visit with her!
Overall, this was a delightful setting for our family to gather for our annual reunion.
We gave cleanliness 4 stars not so much for cleanliness since that was not an issue, but for a couple of minor suggestions we could make.
In summary, we would highly recommend The Scarritt Mansion to others who might want to enjoy Kansas City and its nearby attractions. You will love it!

The house is nice and well suited for large groups. I wouldn't recommend for hot weather times as we experienced AC issues and none of the bedrooms had fans.
Cleanliness of the house wasn't what I expected and basic amenities such as coffee and soap weren't provided.
The owner was responsive to our feedback. Regarding the AC issue, he apologized and compensated us for the discomfort.
Make sure to contact house manager with any questions or concerns.

Piano room was the bomb! We had a lot of fun with that. Large table for eating & playing cards. Kitchen had everything we needed. We bought fans to help cool the upstairs bedrooms (warm Summer). Plenty of towels & linen with updated laundry room. Thank you for a great stay! 💗

House is absolutely beautiful. 100 years old, large stone exterior, wood floors throughout the home, and a large yard.
PROS
+ All rooms are LARGE.
+ All beds are very comfortable
+ Kitchen is huge. Perfect for cooking meals for large families. Double ovens. Large counters. More than ample amount of cups, plates, and serving dishes.
+ Large dining room for family meals and playing family games. Dining room table seats 8 or more.
+ Putting green on the second floor and rear of the house is a blast.
+ Located in an area where you can quickly get to the Power & Light District (P&L) (8 min away), Downtown KC (10 min away), or River Market(8 min away). All of these areas include a plethora of activities and restaurants.
+ Plenty of parking if you have a large group.
+ The owner (Ross) quickly responded to us when we had a question after arriving.
NEITHER PRO NOR
+ 100-year-old house not made for electricity. We made a fun game of finding light switches and outlets to charge our phones.
+ All six bedrooms are on the second floor. One full bathroom is shared by four bedrooms while the other full bathroom is a jack-and-jill style bathroom shared by the last two bedrooms. There is a 3rd full bathroom on the first level. None of this is bad, but you must be prepared to share a bathroom if you have a large party.
CONS
- Not perfectly cleaned (cobwebs in windows and in 1/2 bath).
- No oven mitts for double ovens.

Family vacation
Great home and location for our family of 8 adults and 4 children under 4 years of age to enjoy the 4th of July holiday in Kansas City. The on-site manager was very helpful.

OH MY GOSH! The property is BEAUTIFUL and it is equipped with everything you need for the bride's mother's family--including a professional steamer for our wedding clothes. My brother loved the space & appliances in the kitchen, as he cooked breakfast for the entire household each morning.
Every single room is decorated beautifully and we posed for pictures in our wedding attire in every single one--and plenty on that gorgeous staircase.
There is nothing to improve, no criticism appropriate. The Mansion is magnificent and I can't wait for my niece to get married, so we can rent it again!!

Son was getting married in KC and we had family coming from around the country. We ended up with 10 guests and were very comfortable. This was the perfect accommodation; clean, spacious, beautiful, and had everything we needed. Beautiful neighborhood/street. Close to downtown and wedding festivities. On site manager was great; very responsive and friendly. Highly recommend if you’re trying to gather family or friends under one roof.

The house was awesome and the beds were all very comfortable. We were surprised, however, to find that someone lived in the upstairs because that was not mentioned in the listing. We feel that should have been disclosed.
