Nestled in Holualoa, this lovely condo for $686 per night is a great option for your next trip. Kona Reef is one of the most ideal resort destinations on the Kona Coast. Walking distance to town (less than a mile through downtown to the IronMan pier!). Experience restaurants, shopping, ocean sports, killer ocean views of all the Kona activities right at your front ocean door. Did I mention Honl's Beach, one of the best white sandy beaches found on the Kona Coast right in front of the Reef? The condo has been completely remodeled - Jan, 2018 - tiled baths with glass-enclosed showers, all tile floors throughout. Feb, 2021 - new kitchen cabinets, new mattresses, new AC unit, new lanai table. March, 2022 - completely painted, new lanai chairs, new linens, new coffee maker, assorted new pillows, new electronic locks, new dining room furniture (4/22), new living room furniture (7/22)! March, 2023 - new dishwasher, range, ac unit and ceiling fans. It is one of four of the largest in the complex, sleeping 5 in beds - a king in one room and a queen and twin in the other. This is a corner unit which affords extra light - and exposure and views of open ocean and Kona town from everywhere. Don’t pass this one up! 'Book it Dano' '! Our family visited the Big Island to connect for the first time with my husband's deceased mother's native Hawaiian family and culture.It was a very moving and emotional trip to say the least! And Sandy's condo was a wonderful place for us to call home for the week. We loved sitting on the balcony at sunrise every day taking in the serene activities of the ocean and coastline just steps away. We also loved the easy ten minute walk into the quaint town of Kailua-Kona which is chock full of places to eat, shop, snack, and sightsee. The condo had everything we needed: the perfect sleeping arrangements; a complete kitchen; more than enough bath towels/supplies; and beach necessities including towels, chairs, umbrellas, and snorkel gear. Parking spaces were a little tight but our van fit okay. The only issue (which was beyond the owner's control) was no hot water in the hallway shower. To our pleasant surprise, a handyman arrived pretty quickly after we spoke to the owner about it. He was very apologetic that it would be fixed after our visit. So we made do taking turns with the shower in the front bedroom. It was a minor pivot for us; the owner's timely response is more the point. We would definitely enjoy staying here again!

This condo is so perfectly located with amazing views!! Clean and comfortable. We’ll stocked and it felt like home. On the down side, hall bathroom shower and kitchen water never got very hot…aside from that we would definitely come back!

This condo met our needs perfectly. It is obvious that the owner has focused on upgrades and keeping this unit in top condition. Superb oceanfront views, airy and open, excellent furnishing, new appliances, comfortable bed and all amenities needed to enjoy time in Hawaii. This is one of the best in the facility and we both said we would definitely come back to this unit again.

Beautiful! The lanai is a great place to drink coffee and watch the surfers in the morning! Close enough to walk to the restaurants in Kona which is a plus because parking is terrible. Condo was clean and looked just like the pictures.

Location, location, location! You can’t go wrong with the location of this place. The view from the lanai is simply gorgeous. We spent most mornings out on the lanai eating breakfast and it was a great start to our day. The condo is also conveniently located to all the restaurants and shops. It’s also a short 15-20 minute drive from the Kona airport. We also appreciated the air conditioning unit which did a pretty good job cooling down the place. We arrived to a lovely gift basket filled with cookies, coffee and chocolates. It was such a sweet way to start our vacation! Closets were also fully stocked with everything you need for a beach day, including snorkeling gear which we appreciated.
There were two minor cons to the place. First, I agree with some of the reviews that the floors were pretty dirty. However, the condo was well equipped and there was a swifter mop which I used. It wasn’t a problem after spending some time mopping. The other was that the internet was pretty slow. My husband has to check into the office periodically for work and he couldn’t at the condo due to how slow the internet was. But we are on vacation (as I like to always remind him) and it’s a good excuse to unplug.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the place to others. That view is just amazing.

Our stay at the unit was fantastic! The morning view with the waves crashing just outside was amazing and the view of the sunsets was outstanding! Our teenage kids were close to the beach and shops in walking distance. The unit had all the amenities we needed, and we would recommend this complex and this unit to our friends and family.

Two couples - half of each doing the Honu 70.3, the other two volunteering. We then had a week to recover and enjoy Kona and its environs. D-18 provided a very clean, comfortable and ideal setting for doing the things we love- hiking, swimming, running and relaxing at nearby happy hours and eating scrumptious island food. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks for the modern upgrades, and stocked closets providing for fun beach days.

The condo has an incredible view of the ocean. You can sit there and watch boogie borders and the sunset every day. It is very close to the shops and restaurants and it’s easy to walk. We had four adults and fit in easily, however some complained about the mattresses (especially twin). The owners provided snorkel gear, beach chairs, etc. which was helpful. Overall, it’s a great place.

The beautiful view from the lanai helped offset the age of the complex. We appreciated the laundry & AC very much. A great spot to stay in the heart of Kailua Kona - lots of shops & restaurants within walking distance. Fish Hopper restaurant was excellent! Also did a Body Glove snorkeling trip to K Bay that was outstanding.

Kona Reef is a nice complex that seemed to be showing its age a bit, but is well maintained, safe, and has a nearly unbeatable location. The condo was very nice and as expected. The owners are super easy to communicate with and ultra responsive. Any complaints I list below are minor issues you will have at nearly any VRBO stay and keep in mind I paid double the ordinary charge because of it being Ironman week. For the typical cost this place is an easy 5 star, for double, I get a bit more nit picky.
Pros:
The views from this condo are incredible. It is exactly as pictured.
The layout is great and there is plenty of room for 4 people and would still be fine with another person.
The condo had all the amenities you'd need and provided tons of things like snorkel gear, beach umbrellas, towels, toiletries, shampoo, body wash, etc. Really helps minimize what to buy.
The apartment was very clean other than the floors. Our feet were pretty dirty from walking on the dust, but we did not make a complaint as everything else was perfect and this really may be due to the constant vog in the air and be something that is unavoidable. We gave the benefit of the doubt rather than be "those" renters.
The location is awesome. Its an easy walk down to the Ironman start which is about 1 mile and the shops and restaurants are even closer! For Ironman, the first aid station is right outside the condo on the run. You can go back and forth to the race and the pool and not miss a thing!
The pool is great (a bit slippery if you've got sunscreen on) and easy to get to. Would be nice to get a keypad on it as the keys can be tiresome letting people in.
Cons:
Condo is starting to show its age. Mattresses and dishwasher were useable, but could be updated. Very minor issues. The furniture is fine, but not super comfortable, but who comes from the furniture? The grills they have available are super nice, but I couldn't get above 400.
You will be happy with this place. The owners are great and I did not need to have any contact with them for the entire 10 nights. They had everything we needed other than a smaller cooler to picnic with (they have a larger one though), but we left the one we bought so presumably this is solved for the next guests. The condo is half a flight of stairs up from the closest parking. So easy in and out. Its a great home base for any trip to the Big Island. We would 100% stay again and 100% recommend it to anyone. Thanks for the memories!

Condo was as advertised (which is appreciated). View is stunning and the main draw, however, everything worked as it should, and we didn't lack for anything. The location was easy walking distance to food/shops which made it nice. Overall, a great value and would recommend to anyone on a short visit in Kona.

This unit was pretty average and showed signs of long term wear and tear throughout. NEEDED GOOD CLEANING. Within several steps walking on the floor, our feet were black. Dust buildup several other places throughout the unit.

Spectacular ocean view and comfortable condo for our family of four. It has a fully stocked kitchen, HE washer and dryer, spacious layout, end unit on second floor which gave views in the kitchen of the ocean and bedrooms had windows, all you need for a day at the beach like towels, snorkels, goggles, biggie board, beach chairs and so much more. Just bring yourself, food and your bags.

Our family of 4 (2 teenagers, 2 adults) found this condo to be an excellent choice for our stay. It's a corner unit making it a quiet location. There was plenty of space for the boys to throw a football around on the lawn. It was a very short walk to most of the restaurants in town. And the view was spectacular! Condo was equipped with boogie boards, snorkel gear, plenty of beach towels, etc. Plus, when I messaged the owner asking for recommendations, Sandy was always quick with a response and has great knowledge of things to do on the island. Highly recommend this property as well as this Host!

Fantastic ocean view from the lanai and main room; plenty of room for 5 people. Very well-equipped kitchen - unlike many rental properties, the kitchen was fully stocked and very usuable for actually cooking meals. Nice location as well - only a 10 minute walk into town.

Perfect set up for family of 5!
Perfect location! Walkable you the cute town of Kona (.5 mile at most). We spent hours on the huge lanai watching the surfers. Loved the well appointed condo. Very comfortable for our family of 5. Queen bed and twin in one room and a king in the second bedroom. Must sees include: Volcanoes National Park, snorkling at Two Step Beach, exploring at Malakuena Beach, Manta Rays viewing with Ocean Encounters and meals at Umekes, Kona Haven and Kona Brewing. Thanks for an awesome stay!

We had a great time, and loved the view from the condo. Had a rough start when the shower knob broke and would not turn off . It was fixed by the next day since it happened on Sunday. You have a lovely place. Would love to stay again if ever in Hawaii again 🌺Ann

Beautiful place, very well stocked. We were never sent a code to get in and property manager never returned any call or text. Thank goodness for on site maintenance guy Jim who helped us. A broom and vacuum would have been nice.

Great stay and amazing view!
This condo was perfect and the view of the ocean was unbelievable. We loved the size and space of the condo and the full ocean views from the living room and kitchen. We sat on the deck for hours and did not want to leave. There was even a small wedding just outside our unit one night-- that's how perfect the sunsets are! We had all the dishes we needed for our stay and were even welcomed with a basket of local treats when we arrived. We loved having beach towels and snorkel gear provided as well. All of the windows are screened so you can open them up and feel the breeze and hear the birds and the ocean. Can't wait to come back!

This condo was well appointed, comfortable with great A/C and right on the water! My buddy and I stayed in this 2BR 2BA condo for 5 nights and spent most of our time when we were at the unit out on the Lanai listening to the waves come up to the shore. SUPER RELAXING!
This unit is a corner unit with a lot of natural light. The condo complex was quiet, and we never heard any of the neighboring tenants in the building. Parking was super close to the unit. Although a second floor unit, there was only a half flight of stairs.
