About this house rental
Located in Carlsbad, this charming house for $371 per night is a great option for your next break. Enjoy the sunsets and unobstructed ocean views in this 1923 California style beach house. The house is located on Carlsbad Boulevard (Coast Highway 101) and has been refurbished by family members who have lived here since 1953. Now it is used as our vacation home available to you when vacant. Main rooms all look onto the Pacific Ocean, where surfers, boaters, dolphin and whales can be seen. A walkway above the bluff and stairs to the walkway and State Beach below reveal miles of white sandy beach for sunbathing, swimming, bodyboarding, or surfing. Some beach equipment is provided, but a surf rental shop is 3 blocks to the north. Two of the photos here attempt to show the proximity of the house to the beach. Carlsbad's old village ambiance, Lego-Land, Flower Fields, Outlet stores and nearby malls, Oceanside Harbor with its boat trips, fishing from the pier, golfing at local courses, the Museum of Making Music, are just a few of the many ways to enjoy yourself while staying in Carlsbad. The driveway can accommodate 2-3 cars. It's a short walk to Carlsbad Village downtown. Or hop on a bus on the corner or the Coaster rail downtown to any place in San Diego County, including Petco Park, the home of the Padres. We provide ideas for local attractions for which the area is so famous. You can even take Amtrak from Oceanside north to Los Angeles. Make this your home away from home. We love this rental. It was located conveniently right across from the ocean and is within walking distance to some of the restaurants and shops at Carlsbad Village. Everyday we enjoyed our breakfast with the ocean view and every evening we watched the amazing sunset. The house is equipped with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. We played ping pong after the kids went down for the night! The outdoor shower was super convenient to wash the sand off the kids. Location is close to Legoland; only a 10 min drive. The owners are wonderful
with responsive communication. I can’t recommend this rental enough.

Nice small home with great views and in a great location. Short walk to the village. Check-in was a tiny bit awkward as I had two different emails with two different lockbox codes. No worries. Would stay again.

Perfect ocean stay.
It is a small house perfect for two couples. It had all the necessary supplies and the view of the ocean is spectacular! We stepped right out the door,crossed the street and we were on the beach. Thanks!

Property was exactly as advertised. All amenities were included and clean. Road was a bit more busy then we thought it would be, but people watching was fun. The only thing we’d say could use an upgrade was the king size bed. Otherwise it was perfect 👍🏽

We had an amazing experience !
Our stay at the Beach House house made special memories in the books. I am a single mother of 3 and this proved to be the perfect spot for us. We didn't really leave besides the beach and walked a short distance for fish and chips. Everything we needed was at the house. Thank you for such a fun atmosphere for me and my kids! We did go to Legoland one day which was a 10 minute drive.

Great spot for gathering family and friends from Carlsbad
Well equipped property in great location! Backyard patio was awesome for cookouts, long driveway provided ample guest parking and watching people and dogs walk by was lots of fun! Grandkids loved the ping-pong table, and playing in the sleep shed! Good chance you’ll hear from us again!!

So lovely
It was everything I had hoped for. The kids and I had such a great time. The fenced yard made it nice to feel safe having kids outside, the outdoor shower made coming back from the beach a breeze. The home is so charming and has such a great happy feel. Thank you!
If I were to give one complaint or suggestion it would be that the hot water comes out REALLY hot. This was a bit of a concern with little kids. Maybe a warning would be nice or turn down the water heater a bit. But besides that everything was perfect! Can’t wait to come back.

Peaceful sleep to the sound of the surf with the moonlight! Whales and dolphins in the distance, beach right across the street. Cute little bedroom in the back yard with an outdoor shower. An original beach cottage with vintage charm and within walking distance to downtown Carlsbad. Everything we hoped for in a family vacation!

We had a wonderful week in Carlsbad. The house is 100% as advertised. Beachy, cozy, inviting, and extremely well-stocked. The location is perfection. The owners were responsive and extremely pleasant. Thank you for a memorable vacation! We will return!

Location is everything
We really enjoyed our our week. With the cottage being right across from the beach we could just walk over anytime ( and we did that a lot). Didn’t have to look for parking. There was a place to park the rental car off the street at the cottage.
There was plenty of room to eat around the table and visit in the living room. We spent a lot of time on the small enclosed front porch it was cozy. It was somewhat noisy from the traffic that was constant even throughout the night.
The area in the back yard was nice but still a little cold to eat at the picnic table.
The bedrooms were ok. The bathrooms were not close to the bedrooms so that was inconvenient when 2 couples are staying together.
We were disappointed with the grills. There was a charcoal and a gas grill. On both of them the grates were rusted and unusable. On one of them there was still food inside. So we bought disposable pans to cook on the grill.
I didn’t realize we had to clean, strip the beds and start the laundry but that might have been my fault. I don’t remember reading that anywhere on the ad about your property but it could have been there. I read so many different ones it was hard to keep them all straight. It wasn’t a big deal.
Overall we had a very good time.

Carlsbad is Rad
I have visited quite a few southern places in the states, the Caribbean and overseas. Carlsbad California is the best place I have ever been. Super friendly people everywhere. This house is right across the PCH from the beach and ocean so it is literally a 5 second walk to the beach. Perfect beach as well. Not overcrowded but always enough people to make it interesting. The house itself is amazing, lots of activities to do for children and adults. I have been to this house 6 times now over the past 10 years. I keep going back because like i said, it is the best place i have ever been. It doesn`t hurt that the weather is always perfect, never too hot, never too cold and absollutely no bugs at all :)

Relax and enjoy the view
First thing is the long driveway is fantastic. You do not have to drive up and down the streets trying to find a place to park. The house is only 1300 sq ft but it feels so much bigger. Rooms are all good size, Kitchen is really big and the dining room table looks right out to the ocean and you are able to watch the amazing sunsets from either the dining table, the sun room or the front lawn. The bungalow in the back is a perfect spare bedroom and the pool table was a blast in the garage. We have been coming to San Diego for 18 years and have stayed from Del Mar to Carlsbad and this was the most charming house we have stayed. The owner, Ken, was fantastic to work with as well. We will be coming back if he will have us.

Amazing gem!
We feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this place. The location couldn't be any better and the house was PERFECT for our family. The backyard area, with grass and a basketball hoop, were a hit. The house had everything anyone could have wanted for convenience. (shower gel in the outside shower, ziplocs in the kitchen, beach chairs and toys, etc.) The house is older and full of charm, which I loved, and well maintained with tons of character.

Great location, well-maintained and comfortable home
Loved this little beach house in Carlsbad. Right across the street from the beach and within walking distance of restaurants and town. It is on 101 so can be a bit busy during the day, but bedrooms are in rear and was pretty quiet in the evenings. There's a small sitting room in the front, a great place for sitting in the morning and drinking coffee. Everything you need is provided, even games and toys! Great backyard, too. I wish we had more time to sit in the back and enjoy it.

Amazing sunsets!
We loved staying at this house for our family getaway. Whether you are outside in front of the house, or relaxing in the front porch, the sunsets over the ocean are amazing to watch. The backyard is a blissful area and the owners have all of the equipment you need for the beach and backyard games. The owners are very quick to respond and the house and location are a dream!
