Magnificent 70' Houseboat with Roof Top Party Deck Walking Distance to DT Knox
About this docked boat rental
Located in Knoxville, this lovely docked boat for $523 per night is a great option for your next break. Tired of staying in the same old stuffy boring hotel room? So were we, so we decided to own our own Houseboat on the Tennessee River, where we could walk to just about everything. The “Moonlight Madness” is docked in the peaceful Volunteer Landing Marina in Knoxville. The marina is steps away from award winning “Ruth’s Chris” steakhouse and Calhoun’s On the River. You can walk to both as well as the Neyland Greenway, James White Greenway, Neyland Stadium, Thompson-Boling arena, University of Tennessee and the vibrant Market Street in Downtown Knoxville. We can accommodate 6 people in beds. We have 2 bedrooms, one king size bed in the master and a Full bed in the crew quarters and a queen size pull out couch, along with 2 bathrooms. We feature 3 decks, one off the bow, one off the stern (great for morning coffee or catching some rays) and a 70' PARTY DECK on the roof. The party deck has abundant seating along with 2 flatscreen HD television and a gas grill. The master also has a 40' Vizio UHD flatscreen with Smartcast. The salon also has a 50' UHD flatscreen. Our boat comes fully stocked with clean linens and towels. The galley also comes fully stocked with dishes, utensils and small appliances along with Hi-Speed internet. You will meet a lot of very nice people that reside at the marina full time. Also, we have an golf cart and 2 Kayaks,1SUP and 2 beach cruiser bikes that are available for you to use while at our boat. Sorry, but the Houseboat doesn't leave the marina because of the river current. We also have a full-time Marina Manager and store on site should you need anything or have any questions with our boats. We want your stay with us to be a memorable one, and will make every attempt to make you want to come back. Proud to be a Premier Partner Host.

Wife and I always wanted to stay on a houseboat, and this one was a great way to to set the tone for the unique experience. Overall the houseboat, amenities, and location were terrific!

Houseboat was wonderful! Everything just as described and in pictures. Four of us girlfriends celebrated my birthday here. Decks are wonderful for enjoying the fresh air and the river. Walked to dinner two nights and 6 min drive to Market Square for wonderful shopping and dining. Mattresses were so comfortable. Super place to get away!

We found the houseboat exactly as described, with all the amenities you would want for a restful vacation on the water. Everyone in the family had a lot of fun, and we would definitely recommend this property to our friends.
Thank you!

First time staying on a boat. A little cramped but what we expected. Boat was clean and the golf cart was a great feature. We were there for Tenn basketball game which was in walking distance. Would recommend staying here.

I first want to recognize that the majority of reviews are 5 stars and had so badly wished that would be my experience as well. Unfortunately, I can not rate my experience as such and find it valuable to share with others, as highly unlikely the owner repeats, but has shown this level of service is possible.
Check-In: According to the owner football season is their "bread and butter" because of this one would assume the following:
-Have a manager present/nearby if not so yourself to assist
-Have the place prepped and ready for your guest's stay
Unfortunately, there was a miss across the board for this owner. Due to the location not being ready upon arrival we do appreciate the initial feedback from the owner of "I want to make this right" As we viewed the previous guest's mess, all members of our particular party agreed that we needed to inquire about a refund as it just did not feel right (or clean) staying there. After some communication with the owner (who by the way was out of the country during their "bread and butter" season with no onsite/nearby managers), the owner had agreed a refund would be granted, after proof of golf cart keys, and house keys placed back with a photo sent to his phone. After this was completed, and other arrangements made, this is when communication really took a turn. I inquired about the refund and the owner let me know that after discussing the situation with other owners, he would only allow a credit for future bookings and no refund would be applied. When I followed up by asking why this was mentioned to one of the guests the owner advised that was never said. Upon Letting them know I have the screenshot of the text and the photo sent confirming keys had been placed back I was then followed up with "Never told "guest" that. Told him I would compensate him for dinner while the boat was being prepared" Again, I have the screenshot of the text from the owner to one of my guests mentioning "Refund will be made once I can confirm the door keys and golf cart keys have been returned" As I politely challenged the owner on this communication I was then followed up with "Bottom line I will refund the first night and offer a credit for a future stay" Mind you we had already now booked a new clean and ready boat. I again want to recognize the majority of reviews are good, my experience has just been brutal to say the least. Unlikely you would receive the same service given, but important to know it's possible.

We had such a wonderful time on the boat. We have been coming to watch Tennessee and Alabama for over 20 years in Knoxville and have stayed just about everywhere. I can honestly say there is no better place to stay than the Moonlight Madness! On our way home, I believe there was more conversation about our stay than the game. Our experience on the boat helped to ease the pain of a last-minute field goal by Tennessee to win the game. We will be back Tennessee, and we will stay on the Midnight Madness!

The proximity to UTK , Market Square and the Women's B-ball Hall of Fame is fantastic. Very clean! So fun to hear the fish jumping morning and night! Great marina neighbors. The golf cart is a life saver!!

TVs galore onboard, which was great for the guys. Golf cart was super helpful

We arrived at the property and after a little confusion on our part where the marina was located, we parked and got right in. Little did we know how convenient the golf cart would be with multiple parties arriving at different times. Everyone that was on a boat as visitors or residents were so helpful and friendly. Accessing the boat was easy with the concise directions. What a fabulous boat! All the amenities were as advertised and and it was a perfect place to operate out of. It was a short trip to Market Square where we had meals on two different occasions. On our last night we walked down the greenway and ate on the river. We brought our senior dog who was comfortable and loved it. She even decided to take a plunge off the dock much to our surprise. There really isn’t anything that we found lacking at this property; great Wi-Fi, Tv reception, decor. Our entire party was absolutely beaming the whole weekend. The owner checked in via text occasionally to see if we needed anything. My wife and her dear friend with the same birthday were thrilled, as were all our friends. Absolutely recommend this property for a terrific break from the ordinary. Hans Petersen

From the moment we stepped on the Moonlight Madness we knew we had picked the right place to spend our 50th wedding anniversary. They sure knew how to set the mood. Right down to a couple of cold beers in the frig. and some frosted glasses in the freezer. Fonz thinks of everything. It was relaxing, walking distance to restaurants and tourists' attractions. The amenities available where better than anywhere we've ever stayed. Security is good and people could not be friendlier. I didn't want to leave.

The boat was very clean and thoughtfully decorated - very fun/cool music theme. It was very comfortable and relaxing. This was our first time on a houseboat and it was nice to be on the water with great access to the city of Knoxville. Our kids enjoyed the kayaks which were available for our use. We would recommend this houseboat to others.

Owner did let us know there probably would be no golf cart. Thankfully another house boat owner helped with her cart unload us. We walked which was difficult with one of us having bad knees. Our last night there the new golf cart was delivered so we could at least load our things on departure. About the second day we started noticing a very unpleasant oder upon flushing and red light was on. The maintenance man came down the following day and emptied the poop holding tank and the oder improved immensely. New grill is needed and we tied the flag back as it was way to close to the grill. We understand the renters prior to us evidently weren’t the brightest bulbs on the tree. Unfortunate for both owners and renters. Enjoyed the down town area and the local restaurant was great..

We had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the Moonlight Madness! Great location, well apportioned boat with excellent amenities. We enjoyed the cool vibes even in the summer heat. Easy access to downtown Knoxville on the free trolley.

Awesome alternative to a hotel or house!
We absolutely loved our time on the water. My son enjoyed being able to wake up each morning and fish off the boat. My daughter loved the geese...they would visit each day for her to feed them snacks. She even named a few of them. The pictures and description of the property are accurate. The boat is stocked with plenty of towels, pillows, blankets and other linens. The bathrooms were stocked with travel size deodorant, toothpaste and other items just incase you forget to pack something. The marina is not super busy or loud, yet everything is nearby. The beds were super comfortable and the decor was unique. The top deck was great for watching TV, grilling and playing games. Alfons was a very responsive and friendly host. We would definitely stay again if we are ever in the area. Thank you for providing a great stay!

No Surprises. Listing and pics are accurate. Great Stay!!!
Comfortably sleeps 6 as the listing says. The checkin instructions were simple and thorough, and we did not need to see the property/marina manager. Parked and walked to the boat, retrieved key to golf cart and unloaded everything onto golf cart - no issues. Very clean on the inside. It is a houseboat, so the upper deck outside wasn't as clean, but is what I personally expected. A few spiders to contend with (common at slips) but no mosquitos, and always a great breeze.
This was a great alternative to a hotel for my family; however, we are accustomed to RVs and boats, so the facilities were what we expected.
Suggest adding some instructions for light controls - we never figured out how to turn off lighting on the upper deck. With the heat of summer, we suggest a box fan to get air in the mid-hall bedroom.
As is, we would/will rent this houseboat again. All of our extended family visited us there, and the setting is just awesome.

Nothing but great things to say about our stay on "Moonlight Madness." We stayed for two days with my family and my mother. We were very pleased as the photos online were accurate for this property. We loved being able to use the golf cart to get around the marina because it would have been taxing without it as it is quite a walk to get from the parking lot to the boat. No shoes on the boat didn't bother us because we don't wear shoes in our own home. The water views were lovely! It was so peaceful to watch the sunrise lounging on the back deck. The beds and bedding were very comfortable and cozy. There was more space inside than we thought. Bathrooms are a lil tight but we were on a boat and flushing a marine toilet did take a little getting used to. The upper deck was a perfect gathering place for our family. I was a little concerned about using the ladder to go up but we did and had a great time. The other residents were very friendly and helpful. Super close to downtown Knoxville. Please go to Market Square, Krutch Park and Graffiti Alley and support the local artist. Alfons is the most gracious host. Very accommodating and very easy to communicate with. My family would 100% come back to visit this property again.

Family fun on a houseboat.
We traveled to Knoxville with our children and used the houseboat as a home base for our exploration. It was spacious, clean, and well stocked with amenities. The kids thought the place was so cool., with enough space for us to spread out. My son really enjoyed fishing off the deck. It was a really unique experience to remember.

The boat was dusty and not cleaned properly. We also were accused of not cleaning behind our selves that was not and it really upset me!

Great alternative to staying in a hotel room with family. Large upper deck allowed us to entertain some graduates and their parents and the golf cart was a bonus to transport guests to/from the boat from the parking lot.

Perfect Knoxville Stay
Stayed here 4/10 to 4/17 with wife and parents, had a fabulous time. Loved waking up on the water each morning. Close to downtown and any activity you would want to do. Was stocked with all amenities that you need, as well as a golf cart to get you back and forth to the parking lot. Alfonz was extremely responsive and would highly recommend this rental!

We stayed here when moving our son into UTK. Even though it was freezing outside, the boat was still warm and big enough for our family. Highly recommend.

Last minute family getaway to Tennessee and took a chance on houseboat, it was a great stay! Clean accommodations, great communication with the owner. We were looking for some quality time with our boys and found that along with a good location from downtown Knoxville. Enjoyed a nice dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse (walking distance) as well as a few additional dinners in the square. Enjoyed fishing off the boat and spending time playing board games and watching football at night on the top deck.

Bringing In New Years 2022
Great family fun celebrating on the top deck with great outdoor accommodations. Lots of chairs and outside TV to watch the ball drop. We enjoyed playing the games in the living room inside.
Secluded, secure with friendly neighbors. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept so well with the gentle rock of the Tennessee River
We had two small dogs with us and the boat was fun for them and a great walking area for them outside the marina.
I would definitely book again.

Great fun!
So much more fun and interesting than staying in a hotel room—we were made to feel so welcome, invited to use the fishing rods (endlessly entertaining for my son who pulled in multiple catfish every day), golf cart (a real game changer!), kayaks and bikes. GREAT FAMILY TIME!! Thank you so much for such warm hospitality!

We were in town to watch the South Alabama Jaguars play the Vols. The houseboat was roomy, comfortable and loaded with everything we needed. Hate there was no fire pit, since we were really looking forward to it. But, it didn’t spoil our stay! Visited with neighbors, walked the river, and tailgated on the top deck. Loved our weekend on the Moonlight Madness!
