Florence Rooftop Terrace Apartment View of Cathedral Dome
About this condo rental
Nestled in Florence, this attractive condo for $308 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. This characteristic two bedroom apartment is located on the top floor (fourth) with an elevator of an old Florentine liberty style palazzo. It is located in the heart of Florence one half block from the cathedral square. This is a no traffic street. The flat has the most spectacular view of the Cathedral Dome with its lovely rooftop terrace (unforgettable views). It is situated on two floors. The entry level houses the two bedrooms (one with two single beds and one with a double bed) and 2 bathroom with a shower stall. On the next floor (reached by a small wooden stairway) there is the living/dining area and small (but functional) kitchen alcove. There is a lovely corner fireplace in the living area. Up a few steps is the study area with a day bed (single) and its spectacular view of the Cathedral dome. From the study you enter the terrace. The terrace has outdoor furniture and a big sun umbrella. The furnishings are comfortable and reflect the owners many travels to the far east. We are a family of three: my husband is a doctor, my 30 year old son and I am a math teacher. We are native Florentines and we live on the third floor of the building. Our English speaking skills are fairly basic so please be patient and excuse any mistakes when you. P.S. From my precedent American guest. We stayed at a delightful place in Florence and want to let you know about the place. It is no problem communicating with Angela by e mail but she does not speak English although her 30 year old son, Marco, speaks English. The location is fantastic ! It is about a 10 minute walk from the train station and smack in the middle of everything. As a matter of fact, when you step out of the building you are in one of the main thoroughfares and surrounded by about 4 restaurants and stores. Amazing thing is that when you are in the flat you cannot hear the street noise at all .. it is only when you are down on the ground floor about to step through the door that you hear the street noise. So, you find number 11 .. press Angela's flat (she lives on the 2nd floor and the flat is on the 3rd floor) and she meets you at the door. You go through the old main door .. then an iron gate .. then up a short stairs and you come to the elevator; which is amazing in itself. It is a modern elevator but will hold only 2 people .. or one with bunch of luggage. The unit itself is on 3 levels .. as you enter there are 2 bedrooms and 2 bath (shower) on the main floor. This can sleep a couple in the double bed room .. and two singles (or 3 as there are also 1 extra bed!) or other couple in the other room. The you walk up a short set of stairs and you arrive in the living room which has a fire place .. dining table and comfortable chairs. Also a kitchen well equipped whit microwave , mini oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher washing machine. The you go up one more level to the study; which is attached to a marvelous roof top deck with fantastic view of the Florence sky line. The study has a wonderful couch where one more person can sleep (sofa bed) . Other than that .. what a find. The location is perfect .. I love all the restaurants and shops around her place .. And we lit the fire in the fireplace and it was marvelous .. to be able to make a cup of tea in the kitchen .. on an on ..

From booking to check out Sandro was wonderful to work with. The apartment is very nice with a terrace view that is just beautiful. Sandro is a very sweet man who was very patient with our questions, booked us early morning taxis and recommended restaurants and grocery stores for our stay.We would love to come back and stay there again!

This property is spacious, well-kept, and nicely appointed with a gorgeous deck. For years, we stayed a few doors down at another apartment and looked at this amazing terrace. The fact that it has an elevator made this perfect for us. Sandro was a gracious host. The apartment had everything we needed. We love the area, which has great restaurants in close proximity, historic attractions, and a good grocery virtually downstairs. I'm afraid it won't be available when we want to stay again...it's that good.

Sandro's apartment is even better than it looks in the photos. Clean, spacious, comfortable, quiet, well equipped and everything we wanted for an 11 day stay to celebrate 60th & 21st birthdays.
Sandro was super helpful when we arrived and to sort out one small question during the stay.
Being on the 4th floor makes the apartment really quiet and the patio looking out on the Duomo was a favourite spot all week. The lift is fine and even the steps up are wide and comfortable. The kitchen is well set up for cooking simple meals - but there are so many fabulous places to eat on the doorstep that you probably wouldn't cook a big meal for a family.
The bedrooms and the beds are big and comfortable, there are air-conditioning units throughout (although we didn't need them) and the lounge is the ideal space to relax and read / watch the football on the TV!
We had a perfect holiday - Grace mille Sandro!

Great place to stay in Florence. Steps away from the major tourist attractions, restaurants and shops. Topped off with a terrace that has an incredible view of the Duomo. And despite being in the center of the"action", the bedrooms were both very quiet at night. Sandro the host lives one floor down, and was there to greet us and show us around the apartment. Only caution would be if you have issues negotiating stairs. While there is an elevator to the apartment, you have to climb a flight of stairs to reach it. And the apartment itself is on several levels.
My wife and I had originally booked this apartment in 2019 for a 2020 stay. The pandemic disrupted those plans. When travel opened up again, we decided to rebook Sandro's apartment -and are now glad we did. Fully endorse staying here, you won't regret it.

We had a fabulous time exploring Florence from Sandro and Angela's beautiful apartment a short distance from the Duomo. Our hosts were lovely and greeted us with a bottle of wine that we enjoyed on the rooftop terrace. Highly recommend this property if you are planning a visit to Florence!

The apartment is a 10-15 min walk from the train station (SMN) and is easily navigated with Apple Maps. It is located on an amazing street of businesses, restaurants and plenty of activity, all within a 5 min walk of the Duomo and 10 mins from Accademia (Statue of David). The best part of the apartment is the amazing terrace with views of the Duomo and the city like I’ve never seen before. Stefano is wonderful to communicate with, gracious and responsive. The beds are quite uncomfortable - but we were so worn out from enjoying our vacation we slept anyhow. Even being located on a super busy street, we were never bothered with noise. In fact, we often opened windows to hear street music when we went to bed, but it ended early enough to not be bothersome. Stay here, you’ll thank me!

The property is just round the corner from the duomo, with a beautiful view of it from the terrace. Close to shops, markets and restaurants but quiet inside. The host Sandro was warm and friendly.

Great apartment halfway between the Duomo and San Lorenzo with amazing restaurants right on the street. The AC units were the best we had of the 3 places we stayed in Italy. The patio overlooking the Duomo was perfection. Sandro was a very attentive and helpful host.

Situated on a lively street midway between Piazza San Lorenzo and Piazza San Giovanni, with a lovely terrace offering unobstructed sights of the Duomo in one direction and Capella Medicee in the other, this was the perfect spot for a two-week visit. Short walk to the train station for day trips to Lucca and Siena and to the rental car office for a 2-day drive to the hill towns of San Gimignano and Volterra and to the coast for a night and back through Pisa. Very attentive host!!

Great location!
The location beats all the other criteria of this listing! In the middle of Florence, steps from Il Duomo, lots of restaurants nearby…The apartment was clean and nice and we took full advantage of the roof top terrace view, which is uniquely beautiful!!!

A few steps from the Duomo
Rental was spacious and the view of the cupola of the Duomo and the Duomo’s bell tower at night from the apartment’s terrace was nothing less than spectacular. There were half a dozen good restaurants just outside the front door. It is hard to go wrong with this rental.

Ideal location, spacious and comfortable apartment.
My family and I stayed at Angela's place, and the pictures showing its central location barely do it justice. Being able to walk onto the terrace in the morning and evening to see the Duomo and Campanile makes staying in this apartment worthwhile. I commuted, by bus, for three days to the European University Institute (which is far outside the central city), and it was fairly easy. Florence is a wonderful walking city and almost everything you want to see is within walking distance of the apartment. My wife and kids took tours outside the city, too, and the pickup points were within 15 minutes of the apartment.
There are many good restaurants and wine stores nearby, and a grocery story essentially next door. Plenty of high-level shopping if you like that.
Naturally, there are a few things that are bothersome. The WiFi isn't particularly good. The kitchen is narrow, although we used it for preparing breakfast without trouble. There are plenty of dishes, glasses, and utensils. It could be used to prepare simply meals, such as pasta.
I liked the fact the the flight is up four floors, because it is good exercise and you get the benefit of the two-tiered terrace. Plus, one can catch the elevator after walking up one flight.
The new tram makes getting to the flat from the Florence airport very convenient. I suggest not traveling by taxi as it will likely take longer.
We met Angela, Sandro, and Marco upon arrival, and just before leaving. They are delightful. There is literature in the apartment to help plan outings, and I'm sure they'd be happy to make suggestions.

Above and Beyond perfect
I cannot say enough about our stay in Florence. The location is a couple of blocks from the Duomo and the heart of everywhere one would want to go in Old Florence, The rooms are more than comfortable, and the space has a great layout. The balcony picture is genuine. That's it - The Duomo! Most of all, the hosts, Angela and Sando are two amazing people. We had a very difficult situation with one of our party landing in the hospital and needing an extensive stay there. As a result, our vacation schedule went completely haywire. Angela's and Sandro's compassion and help was beyond what anyone could hope for in a situation like that. They are two truly beautiful people about whom I cannot speak positively enough.

Loved the location. View from terrace amazing
Would stay here again. Truly a funky apartment, but with that said, couldn’t ask for a better location or views. Angela was very responsive to any questions. We liked having two bedrooms even though there were only two of us. We each had our own bathroom, and used the extra bedroom as our dressing room. Fun place to stay.

In the center of everything Firenze. Easy walk to the best of the city. Hosts were super helpful, warm and friendly. Amazing view of the Duomo from the terrace.

We thoroughly loved staying at Angela‘s apartment !
The apartment had everything we needed including a delicious bottle of Italian wine that was left for us ! The location is ideal ! The rooftop terrace affords the most beautiful stunning views of the Duomo ! We look forward to returning to Angela‘s apartment ‘

We enjoyed our stay so much we didn’t want to leave.
Angela and Sandro’s place is everything you could possibly want for a great stay in Florence. Beautiful, clean, spacious, cool and with a spectacular view from the lovely terrace. We all would have loved to stay for a month.

Amazing Duomo View!
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful apartment with old world charm. We had great communication with the owner, Angela, before and during our stay. You will love this third story apartment with an outdoor terrace with up close views of the Duomo. The air conditioning was efficient for our visit in a very hot July and our stay was comfortable for all our needs. The apartment is located in the center of Florence making all of the sights walkable. Their is an elevator, however you must go up a flight of stairs to get to it. If you have physical challenges be aware that there are stairs in the apartment as well. That being noted, you will have an amazing stay in this ancient building with views of Santa Maria del Fiore and San Lorenzo Church. I highly recommend Angela's apartment for your visit to the beautiful city of Florence.

Cool relief from a hot city.
Our rooftop apartment was perfect. Location is central to everything in the city from museums to a local grocery store and restaurants. The views were beautiful and when the sun went down the night lit up and we could relax on the porch. Our hosts were very kind and got us in early when we arrived earlier then expected. Florence was blazing hot and the air conditioning kept us cool during the day. This apartment had a full kitchen as well as a washer. This place would be great any time of year.

The Perfect Location
You could not ask for a better location in Florence. Shopping, restaurants, markets and groceries are either just outside of your door or within easy walking distance. Three flights up but we had no problem as we wanted to walk off all of the food that we were eating! A small elevator is also available. Nice-sized bedrooms: one with en-suite bath; the other bath just off the hallway. The top floor terrace offers amazing views of the city, and the huge umbrella offered relief from the hot sun during the afternoon and early evening. Angela and Sandro were most charming! We would not hesitate to stay again.

Incredible apartment
We had the good fortune of renting this apartment for the second time while traveling in Italy. Angela and Sandro are the most amazing people. We email them and they responded quickly and sent out a reminder of our upcoming rental date with communication about arriving. We have traveled in Italy for the past 18 years with this being our 25th journey. In saying that, this apartment is the most amazing place ever. The location is perfect, being one block from Duomo, 4 doors away from a supermarket, and 1 block away from San Lorenzo market. The apartment is on the 3rd floor with a much appreciated elevator and has 2 security entry doors to the building. Angela and Sandro meet and greet you with open arms. They are willing to share with you everything about the apartment that will make your stay memorable. Upon arrival, water, wine, and various goodies were provided to make the start of our holiday easier. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the bottom floor, kitchen and living room on the 2nd level and a table/chairs on a landing area leading out to a heavenly terrace with incredible views. The photos were great on the website, however, in real life- the apartment is spectacular. Everything was clean, there is a washer which hanging clothes out on the terrace they were dry very quickly, plenty of towels, beds were comfortable, and the air conditioner was a plus. After a long day exploring this city, we enjoyed relaxing on the terrace where you have a 360 view of the major landmarks. San Lorenzo's dome illuminates behind the apartment, as the Duomo, Brunelleschi’s dome, and Giotto's bell tower is so close you can almost touch it. The Baptistry roof along with Palazzo Vecchio's towers are in the near distant. Relaxing with wine on the terrace, while hearing street sounds, smelling the food from below, and seeing the view is a delight to multiple senses. Angela and Sandro make you feel like family, and we will ALWAYS stay at this apartment when we are in Florence Italy. Grazie Mille for a memorable time, and we will be seeing you soon!

Great location. Great view. Charming old apartment
This was a great place to stay. Walking distance to everything but still quiet at night. The view of the Duomo was spectacular and Angela And Marco were lovely hosts. It is an old building with old building charm and plumbing but this detracted so little from our overall wonderful experience I still give it 5 stars!

View of Duomo
Awesome view of Dumo from the rooftop terrace at this apartment Location was exceptional. View was an A+.
Apartment was spacious which was nice. Living and dining area was com portable and well furnished.
Beds were not very comfortable and pillows in the room with twin beds were worn out and looked like they were filled with tennis balls. Towels were clean but seemed old and worn. Nice blankets were a plus. Compared to other VRBO this apartment could use a little refreshing particularly in the bed and bath department.

Florence Vacation
My husband and our friends had a wonderful stay in this beautiful apartment in the center of Florence. We had an awesome view of the Dome and church from our rooftop terrace. Our apartment was spacious, clean and so convenient to the train station, the market place and airport. We couldn't have asked for nicer accommodations. On arrival we were greeted by the owners who had waiting for us a very nice bottle of white wine. It was great way to start our vacation. We would definitely go back!

Angela and her husband were warm, friendly and very generous- leaving wine and a snack for us. The apartment is beautiful, very comfortable, centrally located and perfect for a stay in Florence. We enjoyed the view from the terrace, the apartment was well furnished and the beds were comfortable. Just perfect.

Absolutely amazing Florence rental.
The view of the Duomo from our private terrace was mind blowing. We relaxed here every night which was great after a busy day sightseeing. The elevator made going up and down with luggage easy.We tried to use the stairs most of the time to work off all the gelato we were consuming. This is practically next door to the Medici Chapels so do not miss going there. There was a Conad 2 or 3 houses away which was very convenient. We were very comfortable with ample room for our family of 5.Having 2 bathrooms was a luxury we relished .We walked everywhere and also highly recommend the Da Vinci museum which the kids enjoyed. Angela was away on vacation but her son Marco met us and showed us around the apartment. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we look forward to returning to your place in the future.

Amazing apartment
We arrived at this apartment in Florence, which is around the corner from the Duomo. You walk up less than 13 steps and enter into an elevator. The apartment is set up on 3 levels. The entry level has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms along with an entry area. The second level is up a small set of steps and consists of a Kitchen and large open living room. The third level has a table to sit on and doors, which exit, onto a fantastic terrace. From this terrace, the Duomo’s dome, front façade, and Giotto’s Tower appear so close you feel you can touch it. We spent every evening on this terrace mesmerized by the street noises, smells, and the sight of the Duomo. The kitchen is small, but fit all of our needs, the washing machine worked perfectly and the terrace provided us the opportunity to dry clothes quickly. There is a grocery store out the front door and 4 doors down which was open till 21:00. The only issue was the hot water in the showers was not hot. However, reading a review from the same time it appears the hot water tank needed to be replaced. We would stay and are planning on staying at this beautiful apartment, beautiful view, and perfect location.

Most Amazing, spectacular apartment...
God must have made this apartment just for the view of the Santa Maria del Fiore Duomo AND the Basilica di San Lorenzo. I can stop there and it should be enough for anyone to have this high on their list for Firenze rental. The picture doesn't do it justice. I can kick a soccer ball and hit it.
The landlord is top notch and very professional. Bottle of wine waiting for us.
The apartment itself is on the top floor. The 4 stories of steps were not hard at all. There is an elevator. You step out onto one of the best streets for shops and around the corner is EVERYTHING. we would walk around and tour and then we could go to the apartment for a toilet break or grab a cold bottle of water. There is a supermarket 10 feet away.
We went in the heat of the summer. Miserably hot at 95 degrees. The apartment was cool and we didn't need to run all of the AC units full blast. The bathrooms were modern and clean. Water pressure was doable and the hot water heater took 5 minutes to heat up. I believe the hot water heater was going bad and the landlord said it was going to be replaced.
THIS PLACE WAS AWESOME!!!!

Loved Florence. Loved This Apartment!
I wish that we could rate this apartment higher than 5 stars. We were in Italy for two weeks and this was, by far, our most pleasant experience!
The apartment is just outstanding and fit our needs perfectly. The apartment itself is 3 floors. On the first floor, there were two bedrooms and they were plenty big for us and our two teenage children. The air conditioning in the bedrooms worked really, really well - which was great after walking all around Florence during the summer. On the second level, there was a small kitchen and a nice den/living room area with wood stove that probably would have been nice in the winter. This led up to a a set of stairs and out to the terrace. What can I say about the terrace! It was spectacular. We spent each evening on the terrace playing games with our children, enjoying the wonderful view of the Duomo and listening to classical music being played on the streets below at the restaurants on via San Lorenzo.
As mentioned, the apartment is 3 levels and has a lot of stairs to climb. The entry to the apartment itself is up 3 flights of stairs...but there is a small elevator. Just be aware of this fact if you have trouble with stairs
The area of the apartment is absolutely perfect. It is just steps from the Duomo and is on a lively street with many restaurants and shops. It's also very close to the outdoor market, which we enjoyed greatly. Through all our walking around Florence, we never felt we were far away from our apartment and stopped back frequently to rest during the heat of summer.
Lastly, Angela and Sandro were just wonderful. As others have said, when we arrived they had a bottle of Chianti waiting for us (which we certainly enjoyed on the terrace). They also had a bag of potato chips for our kids (which was like gold to them). During the planning stages of our trip, we had several questions for Angela and she was always very prompt with her responses via email. In fact, she even walked over to the train station a few months before our trip to ask a specific question for us! When we arrived, both Angela and Sandro greeted us. Sandro speaks very good english so he was the primary communicator. Before we left, Angela and Sandros stopped by and gave our two children each a small gift. It was so nice and thoughtful. Just wonderful, warm people.
Thank you for making our stay in Florence great, Sandro and Angela! We loved Florence and would certainly stay here again when we return

Absolutely loved it! Don't stay anywhere else!
Just ended a 4-day stay in Angela and Sandro's lovely Florence apt. It was amazing! The photos do not do it justice and the deck....!!! We enjoyed coffee each morning and ended the evening with a glass of wine with the Duomo in sight, listening to the church bells. So beautiful! Everything is within walking distance - location is perfect. The apt. is extremely clean, as are sheets, towels etc (I get a bit fanatical about cleanliness!). But what we loved most was Angela and Sandro - such lovely and warm people. They greeted us with a bottle of wine (so nice!) and as it was our wedding anniversary the next day, they stopped us on the stairs with a bottle of prosecco which was so thoughtful.
Thank you so much Angela and Sandro - it was a pleasure meeting you both and we will be back! Best regards, the Lee family
