Good option for Cusco

Good hotel, polite staff, nice breakfast, options to buy bottles of water or other essentials and only a couple streets away from the main square.

I didn’t like a few things a tiny bit so my summary is that the rating of >9 seems a bit inflated. Don’t get me wrong though, I would book again!!! Breakfast was identical every morning. Towels not changed on the 3rd day of a 4 days stay-and even though placed on the floor as an international signal “please change them”, we found them hung up to dry. Lack of hot water for one shower. Interest from staff to find out what we had planned seemed intense sometimes Snags. Small snags.

Lovely Hotel, would def stay here again!

Very good location, on a busy street but just a short walk into the main square, various restaurants and shops. Very helpful staff, giving us maps and lots of advice for around the area. Lovely touch of a complimentary Coca tea on arrival. Big comfy beds and clean rooms. Breakfast was a delight, fresh fruit, eggs, ham, cheese, tea or coffee. There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room but a communal set up was just outside in the corridor. Would def return to this hotel in the future.

Soundproofing not brilliant but most people were in bed quite early!

Home away from home

The staff was incredible. They make you feel so at home. The breakfast was great. Cooked to order daily. Had many amenities for purchase at a reasonable price. Snacks. Bottles Water. Laundry service. Etc. made our stay so wonderful

Nice clean rooms. Beds very comfortable. Nice breakfast. Lovely helpful staff that let us stay and relax in their lounge room until our flight at 10pm the day of check out.

Great value, well located, clean, safe, friendly owner and staff. Unbeatable.

I liked everything. The woman who owns and runs the hotel is a very sweet and loving host who takes care of you as if she is your mother. I felt really looked after and that I was not just another customer. The rest of her staff is just as nice. It was really well located just a little bit outside the main tourist area. Only a 5 minute walk through a really safe area to all the main tourist things. This was perfect. The rooms were decorated in a clean and colorful way without being cluttered at all. Not like the boring plain decorations of a regular hotel. The common areas were warm and welcoming spaces that encourage you to meet other fellow travelers. Plenty of hot water both in the shower and at the tea stations that are located on every floor with complimentary tea whenever you like. Supermarket 2 blocks away to buy water and electrolyte drinks. Stay hydrated. Thank you to the woman who owned it! I hope we meet again!

Kindness, Coziness, Cleanliness

When you enter the hotel, you can feel a comfortable atmosphere. The decorations are really cozy and distinctly Peruvian. The staff members are kindness personified. I had a bout of altitude sickness, and they took care of me with a warm heart, showing genuine concern for my condition. The breakfast was also excellent! The room was clean, and the bathroom was spotless. Additionally, when we went to Machu Picchu, we were able to leave our baggage at the hotel. If I ever visit Cusco again, I will definitely choose this hotel. I will always remember the warm-hearted staff. Thank you so much.

従業員の方がみなさんとても優しく親切です。クスコの街のことを丁寧に説明してくださいます。お部屋も水回りも非常に清潔です。朝食も綺麗に盛り付けられ、着席後すぐ提供してくださいます。コンセントもベッド周りにあり、とても便利です。ホテルの近くに両替所、スーパーもあり便利です。

Perfect!

Absolutely fantastic experience at Casa Matara! I really can't say enough about how wonderful Casa Matara is. The decor is gorgeous. The rooms are well equipped with extremely comfortable beds and high quality linens. It's in the perfect location for exploring the entire city. As a solo female traveler I felt perfectly safe at all times. And last but certainly not least, the staff is absolutely wonderful, warm, caring and eager to help with anything at all. I was sick one of the days I stayed and they even checked on me. I will absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone I know travelling to Cusco.

Muy buena relación precio calidad

Es fácil encontrar un hotel bueno sobre los usd200. Cuando buscas en el rango de los usd50, ya no es tan fácil. Este hotel es buenísimo para su precio. Había leído muchos comentarios sobre la buena atención y no pensé que fuera taaan importante, pero de verdad se preocupan muchísimo de que esté todo bien, incluso tus paseos. La cama muy buena, la limpieza y tambien el lugar se ve renovado y acogedor.

Cuando llegábamos tarde y con frío, me hubiera gustado tener calefacción, pero una vez en la cama ya no se siente más frío. Está unos 12 min caminando desde la plaza de armas, pero nunca me sentí insegura o incómoda caminando de noche hacia el hotel. Recomiendo poner mas colgadores en el closet.

relación precio calidad. es fácil encontrar un hotel bueno y caro, lo difícil es bueno y barato. este es el caso. los dueños se desviven por sus huéspedes.

hacia un poquito de frío y no tiene calefacción. 10 a 12 min caminando del centro pero se siente totalmente seguro.

Excepcional por su amabilidad y comodidad.

El hotel es excepcional por su atención de todos las personas de la casa, la comodidad de las habitaciones amplias, limpias y camas muy cómodas. Su ubicación es perfecta, a pocas calles del centro. Lo mejor es el rico, abundante y bien servido desayuno de todas las mañanas.

Friendly staff, beautiful hotel

The property was cute and the Peruvian decor was nice. The staff were really nice and helpful. They made us feel right at home

The beds were a little hard. I like beds in the middle not to soft not to hard. They did give me an extra pillow which helped me sleep better.

Fit the bill perfectly, close to the big square(s), retail and airport.

Was not able to enjoy the breakfasts - two, too early departures. Box breakfast was offered.

Buena relación calidad/precio: la habitación era grande, cama enorme, limpia, y las chicas de recepción muy amables, siempre disponibles para dar informaciones muy valiosas y ayudar en general. Buena ubicación, a algunas cuadras del casco antiguo (puedes ir andando en 10-15 minutos). Wifi OK.

La habitación no tenía ventana exterior, lo que dificultaba un poco el recambio de aire. También el aislamiento acústico de la habitación no era de los mejores (se escuchaba continuamente el timbre de la entrada del hotel). El desayuno era muy saludable y completo, pero era servido en la mesa y fijo, prefiero el tipo buffet donde yo decido lo que comer y cuanto.

Totally worth it

Great location, near de Plaza. Breakfast was very hood, and when we had early day trips they prepared a luchbox for us. The staff was amazing and everything exceeded my expectations. The bed was huge and very comfortable . They helped us with taxi, booking our day trips and everything went smoothly. Our bags stayed at the hotel when we left for a couple of days and we did not have any problems, in fact we were surprised to arrive late and find our bags already in the room!

The staff were excellent and the rooms were spacious and clean with working hot water. The breakfast is great and they provide complimentary tea in the foyer of every level 24/7. We were able to store our luggage free of charge for 2 days whilst we went on the jungle trek to Machu Picchu. We don’t speak any Spanish and had no issues communicating with the staff.

Nothing, it was honestly great in all aspects.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were excellent. The location was perfect because it is close to the city center to enjoy but not to close that we ended the night away from too much noise.

Lovely place but no soundproofing at all.

The staff made us feel at home. The breakfast was lovely and homemade. The beds were lovely and hard and comfortable.

There was zero soundproofing - you can hear people in other bathrooms!

Very good

Check in was easy, we needed a place for 1 night that would fit three and be close to center of city. It worked. Breakfast was wonderful. Would stay here again.

Very easy to hear your neighbors so if a light sleeper could be hard. We were all exhausted so fell asleep easily.

Very comfortable hotel with wonderful staff and great location in Cusco city center

We had a late arrival and early checkout because of our travel itinerary. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, providing a boxed breakfast since we would miss the normal breakfast. They included small alpaca keychains as well =)

When we submitted our request for a late check-in (10pm), we got some automated message that made it seem they would simply give away our room if they had the chance. However, we went in person to clarify their meaning and they assured us that was a mistake and that they WILL NOT give away your room if you have a late check-in. The hotel handled this well - it’s actually a positive more than a negative, but confusing nonetheless!

Amazing & comfortable stay

Lovely family run hotel. We got upgraded to a gorgeous, spacious room. The comfiest and biggest bed ever! Bathroom spacious too with good shower. Breakfast daily was tasty. Staff were very friendly and helpful and allowed us to store our luggage. Location was great too.

Only negative thing was you can only use the kitchen area for hot water for drinks and not any milk as this is reserved for breakfast only.
