Super!

De locatie van dit hostel is erg fijn. Vanuit hier zijn meerdere supermarkten en het strand op loopafstand bereikbaar. De sfeer in het hostel vond ik ook fijn. Dat is natuurlijk voor een deel afhankelijk van de mensen die op dat moment in het hostel verblijven. Iedereen geeft elkaar de ruimte in de keuken, maar als je ervoor open staat is het ook makkelijk om contact te maken. Verder organiseert het hostel elke dag een activiteit in het hostel zoals een volleybal tournooi, trivia quiz, Mario Kart en yoga. De douches zijn fijn, hoge waterdruk en lekker warm. De bedden hebben allemaal een eigen gordijntje, stopcontact, nachtlampje en een opslag box bij het voeteneinde die je met een hangslotje dicht kunt maken. Aan de voorkant van het hostel zit een cafe waar je allerlei soorten koffie/ontbijt kunt krijgen. Ten slotte is er beneden ook voldoende zitruimte in de keuken, woonkamer, een werkruimte en een bar. Al met al, super fijn verblijf gehad en hier zou ik zeker terug komen 😊

Geen tegenvallers! Het enige wat ik kan bedenken, is dat je jouw bagage voorafgaand aan het in- en na het uitchecken niet in een afgesloten ruimte kunt bewaren. Er staan rekken tegenover de receptie waar ze mogen liggen, waardoor ze dit wel in de gaten kunnen houden.

Clean cool place for a fair price

The location is pretty good, close to a few restaurants and bars. They offer a welcome drink which is pretty good and much appreciate and also the bar is quite ok. They also offer a few food options, like sandwiches, good if you need something to eat straight away. The beds have curtains that offer a very good privacy when sharing a room. Bathroom seems fine, very spacious and looked quite clean.

I arrived at the hostel pretty hungry and tired from a long trip, so didn't really wanna go out for dinner, so I decided to have a pizza at the bar and ALL pizzas they had at the fridge were rotten. Barman checked all of the 4 options and all looked very strange, soggy, like they have been sitting there for ages... That worried me a bit. Also the curtains in some beds need repair, it was falling apart over me and the light in the bed wasn't working. I was in the bathroom and one of the cleaner boys just entered it and didnt even knock and it was the girls bathroom. Thats definitely something staff need to receive training about. One of the girls could be changing or even naked..

A great place to meet people, have fun, but most importantly get a good nights rest too.

The entire experience was fantastic. Really friendly, knowledgeable and approachable staff, the room was way bigger than expected, everything was clean and the furnishings and decor was actually pretty on trend and quality. THe location is fantastic and we used the tram to go to the South Melbourne Markets, the Sea Baths and also walked a little way to the Adventure Playground. My kids and I loved it.

Awkward and inconvenient like a nightmare

Staff were nice and helpful

if you stay here you have to bring slippers and hair dryer. So inconvenient! Bathrooms are so cold in winter because there’s no window. it’s just a few wood bars with large openings. No place to hang your clothes when you take them off to shower. No indication of whether a restroom/bathroom is being used so people keep trying to open the door violently and I was scared a few times. No lock for lockers. The wood stairs and floor are very noisy. It was a nightmare. I will never come back.

Extremely rude receptionist and unclean ugly room

Other guests gathering around the hostel were polite people.

We have been to a few hotels the month we were in Australia, ranging from 5-star hotels to mid-range ones, and finally, this one which was utterly the worst experience with a very rude receptionist and unclean ugly room. When we arrived (May 25th), there was a short-haired woman sitting behind a tiny laptop who didn't acknowledge us. We introduced ourselves and ask whether she is the receptionist of the hostel, she nodded her head without saying anything or asking us to wait. A few minutes of silence passed while she stared at her laptop, then we asked whether she'll check us in, she got angry and rudely said you have to wait. We then waited more, and finally, she asked for documentation. We told her you have already sent us a WhatsApp message asking us to install a separate app (Selina Hotel app) and do a mandatory check-in before arrival. In addition to the name and passport number of guests, the app also asked about private info such as where we come from, where we plan to go after this trip, etc. which a hotel shouldn't ask. We asked her why is this the case. And this seemed to trigger her even more, she first lied about it and said that the app is optional, then we told her the Whatsapp message specifically said it is a "must". Next, she changed her tactic and said "Yes, you must do it to save my time so that I do not have to type your info in the app". And she continued like this... To the management of this hotel, please train your employees to acknowledge the guests when they arrive, politely ask them to wait if you are doing something else, then when they inquire about the app asking for private info, explain the reason (or lack of it in this case). This shouldn't be too difficult, especially for someone whose job is to treat people with respect.

the location was good, close to tram to Melbourne and to St kilda beach and town. staff were very helpful and friendly. rooms were very comfortable and the big bathroom was amazing. very social also with events going on in the evenings.

would recommend a stay here, all round great place.

i thought the bed and pillows were very comfortable, i liked that you have a curtain for privacy. the decor was nice, the atmosphere was chilled and i like that the lighting wasnt too harsh in the common areas so you could relax.

the common facilities could have been cleaner. the kitchen i didn’t want to use as it was dirty. the shower cubicles and sinks needed more regular cleaning.
