Wonderful experience from the outset.
Communication was excellent, pickup was ontime and very comfortable, the board / crew / food / suite etc are outstanding and the sights are just beautiful. I cannot recommend Orchid and this experience highly enough.

The boat is just beautiful, not too many people on board so plenty of quiet space. The staff are so friendly and happy. The food on board is good quality and a nice variety. A wonderful experience.
We ordered a bottle of wine to share with friends, a Chilean Chardonnay, and we didn't take proper notice of the price, turns out it cost us $150 AUD, which was a bit of a shock. The same bottle off the boat is around $30AUD. We learnt our lesson and enjoyed cocktails instead!

What I liked the most was the cruise crew specially Tim our restaurant server who was helpful and friendly.
The cruise route was great and all the activities we had were wonderful.

Wow, what to say really. What a wonderful overnight stay on the Orchid Classic. The rooms are beautiful and filled with colonial charm (while still having great modern conveniences). TV, safe, power shower and bath. Five star service from all staff. We didn’t have to lift a finger from the moment we were picked up from our hotel to the moment we were dropped back. The food was delicious (every single course of the five course lunch and dinner and the delicious buffet brunch before disembarking).
The itinerary is packed, but the staff make it feel very organic and we never felt rushed. We enjoyed the evening cookery and the trip out to the caves and the squid fishing. We didn’t do the kayaking, but this was personal preference and everyone who took part said how much they loved it.
The best thing about the boat was the people - the staff were lovely and despite doing this everyday with high turn over it felt personalised, and that it down to the energy and loveliness of the very hard working staff.
I could go on, but I will finish by saying that this smaller more expensive cruise is worth every Penny.
Nothing, but I myself would not recommend the jumping into the water if you are not a strong swimmer as the current is very strong - staff should advise of this

The boat is very beautiful, typical vietnamese junk boat style. Clean, comfortable, and spacious. Only 14 rooms on the boat makes for an intimate experience. Food is unbelievably good and they really adapt to dietary requirements. The day events are well organised and fun. Out of all the boats we saw on the bay this fleet looked the most looked after. Highly recommended 👌

The cruise was wonderful, we had a great time. The ship was beautiful, and the crew was extremely helpful and very friendly and nice. The food was really good, our compliments to the chef.

Lovely boat and the staff were amazing, super attentive and friendly and tried so hard to make everything amazing for everyone on board
The bay is so incredibly polluted you really can’t get a good view without rivers of trash getting in your way. On our “kayaking activity” we just kayaked through tons and tons of trash and polluted water. There was no way to swim in that and it was so hot all you wanted was to jump in the water but there was no clean spot to do that.

Absolutely amazing and could not recommend enough! A beautiful boat with incredible facilities and views and great activities to enjoy! The staff were amazing and went above and beyond to look after us! Tien, Cris and Sunny made sure our trip was perfect and we can’t wait to come back

The main cruise and staff were excellent. Especially the cruise directory. Very fun, kind and attentive. Beautiful boat and location. Staff on the big boat were great.
Did the 2 day cruise and the second day we were put on a small boat with a different company and the level of service and comfort were poor. Spent a lot of money on drinks and spa, so beware of that. Also sad to see trash in the bay and feel the water was not so clean.

The ship was clean and comfortable.. food was amazing and staff were impeccable . Would like to mention Nilo the manager, he went above and beyond and was always happy. Harry our server was a delight and did an amazing job!

We like all the activities that the ship was offering, kayaking, squid fishing, visit to cat ba island. The rooms were very spacious with huge windows, so you can enjoy the spectacular view of halong bay's islands. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.
Our room was next to the engine room so there was some noise while the ship was moving.

The Orchid cruise is exceptional. I really enjoyed it. The staff onboard is very nice. They treated me very well. This is above and beyond my expectations. Absolutely worth it.

The whole experience was incredible, super friendly and helpful staff, the location and boat were incredible and the amenities were fantastic. It is definitely designed for couples, and my partner and I had a fantastic and very romantic time on all the activities. I couldn't recommend this highly enough - if you want to spend the night on Ha Long Bay you need to choose Orchid Classic Cruise.

what a fantastic cruise. chris looked after us like we were king and queen . the food was incredible and the rooms cool comfy and elegant. we thouroughly enjoyed our time from start to finish.
we really couldn't fault the entire time we were on the ship . if nit picking the massage was hard to enjoy while the boats engine was running.

Spent more time traveling back and forth than on the boat.
The place is obscenely polluted the worst I've ever seen.
Swimming opportunities vastly exaggerated and regrettable as you are swimming in a heavy density cruise ship toilet dumping zone.
Booked spa which they then forgot about, confusing us with another cabin.
Boat kicks to life at 5am with boats pulling up alongside for a 2 hour refueling and the smaller taxi boats docking in.
Paid a lot of cash for a room and vessel I was barely on. But if you did not go on an excursion you sat on a moored vessel for hours.
Gym was retired in 2018 picture still on booking.com
Forget gym and/or snorkel gear.

The boat and rooms were better than expected, the photos matched everything. Service was great and very organised. Plenty to do during the day then drinks and cooking lessons at night. It was all just beautiful. Pity about the rubbish in certain parts of the bay. Apparently it collects there on certain winds and drifts from all areas. It’s a big lesson for kids about respecting the oceans and not polluting. Thanks to Lilly, Tina and the crew!

We got the 2 night cruise on March 24, and had the corner cabin that was beautiful, with a "round" bed and enormous windows that made you feel you were outside. The place is amazing, unfortunately it was cloudy and a bit hazy the whole time but still breathtaking. We went to some caves and to a village, used the bicycles to get there. The food and the staff were outstanding! Special thanks to Cruise Director Ms Trang and her staff.
The only sad part is that there is a lot of trash in this amazing beautiful place. You can also see at times a "film" on the water I guess from the ships fuels (?). Hopefully there can be more community teaching to take care of this gift on Earth. Also, more strict rules for all the companies that are benefiting from this Nature wonder.

We stayed on the classic cruise for one night in the premium rooms on the second floor (near the dining area).
The rooms were very specious and had great amenities.
One room was upgraded for free to the suite which is huge with a bathtub jacuzzi, this was a lovely gesture.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
The cruise is very intimate with only 14 rooms, so you feel almost like you are on a personal cruise.
The scenary was beautiful.
The cocktails were tasty.
All in all I highly recommend it as it was very high level and felt like our own private cruise.
This suite room is in the back of the ship the downside was that it is on top of the ship's engine, making it very noisy during sailing, and also the engine smoke was on the balcony area most of the time.
However usually during the sailing you are not in the room, so it is not a big problem.
The water has a lot of plastic garbage, there is nothing the cruise can do about this, hopefully the government does more to help with this.
One person was lactose intolerant, and even though mentioned in advance and confirmed , the staff had difficulties in providing guidance on what can be eaten

WOW!!!! We loved every single bit of our stay. Boat was gorgeous with views from every room. Our Suite was very spacious and every amenity accounted for. Loved the shower and separate soaking tub that had full window view of the bay, and the full length deck outside of our suite to relax and watch the cliffs go by. Loved that there were only 5 suites so felt like we had all the staff and amenities all to ourselves. The staff was absolutely amazing and attentive in every way plus personable. Especially loved Captain Dong and co-captain Benny, but all the staff were wonderful. The top deck with hot tub was amazing. Every meal was top quality and presentation spectacular. We had the best boat by far in the bay!!! Far exceeded our expectations and would only choose this again. Thank you Hannah for taking care of us.

I had booked Orchid Exclusive Suite .The whole itinerary was well planned.The service was excellent.the staff were always attentive.Dinner and food was spot on.They were more than happy to acomodate incase you have specific requirement for food.I would absolutely recommend this cruise.
Two things that could have been better:
1.Orchid Premium suite comes with a jacuzzi however it was not cleaned properly also did-not seem to be working.
Given that this is part of the room experience things like these should be maintained.
2. Transport should be a part of the package at least for premium room customers.

What a dream! After years of imagining Ha Long, I am so grateful to have been able to take this trip and grateful to Orchid for everything they do to make the experience outstanding! My room was gorgeous, the pictures didn't lie. I work with a fine-tuned machine in Switzerland and Orchid is even better than we are- everything was smoother than silk. I don't know if I was just lucky but the other guests were awesome- especially as a solo traveler I really appreciated the great company. Food was also outstanding. A very special, memorable experience; I would definitely recommend Orchid to friends.
Quickest, low-cost easy improvement- please print an itinerary for guests staying 2 nights. I was surprised and confused some people were staying 1 night, the itinerary for those staying 2 was not clear (for others too). I would have preferred a boat that I could see more things AND enjoy my gorgeous room- I want it all. Second, the prices for wine at the restaurant are absolutely outrageous. I've never seen such high prices- even in the ME- AND the wine was not good.
